Battlefield 4 revealed by Medal of Honor pre-order offer

Buy Warfighter today, get Battlefield 4 beta access

EA has revealed the existence of Battlefield 4, albeit not quite intentionally. A Medal of Honor: Warfighter ad on EA Origins promises Battlefield 4 beta access when you pre-order the Danger Close shooter.

The ad has now been removed, but lightning-fingered sorts over at Digital Spy have taken a screen grab. Medal of Honor: Warfighter smashes into UK shelves on 25th October - if Battlefield 4's going into beta at roundabouts the same time, a 2013 release seems likely. But is this too early for the next numbered Battlefield? Wouldn't a Bad-Company-style spin-off be more in keeping with series precedent? And will the game launch for both Xbox 360 and next generation consoles, tipped to arrive in the winter?

The official Battlefield Twitter account has this to say: "If you don't see it on our official site, http://Battlefield.com , then it's not official", adding "Battlefield 4 exists only in the hearts and minds of our devotees, for the time being." Right - but EA is your publisher, chaps. If the bigwigs say it's happening, it's happening. Right?

We've got more questions than answers right now, I'm afraid. What do you think? Battlefield 3 impressed but didn't quite dazzle, a great multiplayer game supported by a naff campaign mode - here's how to make Battlefield 4 a solid gold 10.

  1. "Highly successful franchise gets new entry shock!!!"

  2. And then.....400,000 more where pre-ordered lucky I ordered mine on the day it was announced as a pre-order product :D

  3. There was a lot of chatter about this, two of my non-gaming friends told me about it after seeing it somewhere or other. I suppose it's inevitable but it does seem very soon. Have they really learnt enough lessons by now? Have they made the necessary hardware leap? Er..no.

I would guess this will be a launch title for the next Xbox, and if it isn't then it should be.

  4. Please Please Please be a 2142 sequel. Getting a bit tired of all the modern warfare games out at the moment.

  5. Not even gonna bother with it. I did really love BF3 and I still do in some forms but as long as it's an EA published game then I am out. Most of my favourite series have gone downhill in the past 5 years and I do not really want to be dissapointed again.
