THE MULTI TERRAIN 4-WHEEL DRIVE MOBILE CRANE BASE
Now Available at Panavision Remote Systems Woodland Hills and UK

August 2, 2011—Woodland Hills, Calif. — Panavision Remote Systems is introducing the Multi Terrain 4-wheel drive Mobile Crane Base, now available both at Panavision Remote Systems Woodland Hills and Panavision Remote Systems UK. The Multi Terrain Base (MTB) is a mobile crane base that allows you to attach cranes as large as a 50’ Supertechno crane arm and easily move it off-road or over rough terrain.  It is currently compatible with the Supertechno 50 but will soon be compatible with all Panavision telescopic cranes including Supertechno 22 and 30, Moviebird 35/45 and the 32-foot Louma 2. You can achieve up to 48-feet of lens height when using a 50-foot Supertechno, a height no other mobile base and crane combo can match.  Four hydraulic leveling jacks keep the base and arm level on most uneven surfaces.

“There’s no other vehicle that can move a 50 foot arm off road as easily in today’s marketplace, which is something our customers have been asking for.  It’s a nice addition to our suite of products,” said Steve Krul, Marketing Executive, Panavision Remote Systems.

The MTB can be operated from a single driver’s seat by a joystick or by a handheld wireless remote control, necessitating only crane techs or one grip to move the crane from setup to setup, rather than multiple personnel. This creates enormous time and money savings for production.

Veteran key grip John “Beef” Janusek (“Real Steel,” “Zookeeper” and currently on “The Avengers”) used the MTB with the Supertechno 50-foot arm. “This was the perfect piece of gear at the perfect time. We scouted an inaccessible dry creek bed location in the Jemez Mountains here in New Mexico.  It was perfect for the job and it worked flawlessly. What I liked best about it was its stout, low-slung design and the fact that with the way in which the controls were configured, either myself or the technicians assigned to it could operate it easily. The leveling jacks make that part easy.  Would I use it again? Definitely.”

The MTB is available now. For more info and specs, contact Panavision Remote Systems at 818-316-1080.
