Contains the music to the Final Fantasy III game for the Famicom (Nintendo), which was never released in the U.S. The re-release for the Nintendo DS was released in the U.S.

First pressing: Comes in a thick, cardboard folder-like case with the first page of the liner notes glued to the inside front cover. No obi. Liner notes have an introductory paragraph about the game; tracklist in English and Japanese (kana); a message from Nobuo Uematsu; and 2 pieces of monster artwork by Yoshitaka Amano that is not included in the SS version.

Squaresoft version: Comes in a regular jewel case with obi. The layout of the liner notes is very different from the first pressing; otherwise, the content is the same, except for several pieces of art by Amano that are not in the first pressing.

Squaresoft re-release: Comes in a regular jewel case with obi. Barring any corrections or slight text changes that might have been made in the liner notes that I didn't catch, the content and style of the liner notes and the music are the same as the original SS version. The only real differences are the new catalog number, and minor changes to the obi and the back cover, which you can see by comparing the scans above.

SonMay version: Comes in a regular jewel case with obi. The back cover has Amano artwork and the FF3 soundtrack logo. Liner notes have only the tracklist in English and kana. Also includes a sticker with Amano art and the FF3 soundtrack logo. This is the same sticker found in the SM version of the Legend of the Eternal Wind CD. The CD is in the style of SS first pressing, which makes me think that the people over in Taiwan manage to get their hands on the Japanese releases awfully fast.

Interesting note: The date of release on the Squaresoft re-release is listed as 11/26/94 (the date of the original Squaresoft pressing), although it was actually re-released on 10/1/04.
