In his ninth decade, Rupert Murdoch is both still firmly in control of his media empire and facing what may be the biggest crisis of his career. The phone hacking and bribery scandal at News Corp.'s British newspaper subsidiary has thrown open the question of succession, with heir apparent James Murdoch forced to step back from some duties and elder brother Lachlan appearing poised for a return to the fold. Despite declaring himself "humble" in a Parliamentary hearing, the patriarch continues to make his presence felt, most recently in the decision to launch a new Sunday tabloid.
