  1. I have been using this for about a week

  2. Judging by the top picture, Mashable’s photoshopper doesn’t know much about Android.

  3. QR code… should just point to the app in the market. I suppose they want to be able to keep track of how many people used the code I guess?

  4. Why do Mashable need native apps when they just need a web app that works on all devices? What funcionality do you use in the apps that you can’t have in a web app? Just wondering…

• People prefer different methods of receiving their content. Our website is already mobile optimized, but the app allows us to add additional features such as deeper category navigation and more social sharing options.

We appreciate the input though and will continue to make our apps unique an useful experiences.

    • Agree, I don’t want to have to install a bunch of apps on a specific device (or specific devices, if I have more than one). I just want to go to the web and use the content.

Android needs a barcode to download apps?

  6. Unfortunately, it crashes on load with an error message on HTC Desire, Android 2.1 : crash of com.intridea.mashable process. Tests with wifi and 3G+ connections.

  7. Jay Glogovsky

About time! Looks and works great on the Droid.

  8. it didn’t work on my nexus one… sigh~

  9. Epic fail
    1. Screen does not auto roate
    2. when i click on view comments , it opens the browser…

i need this app like FB app where i dont need to open a browser to view/post comments.

    i am uninstalling it.

  10. The M-app keeps crashing on Samsung Galaxy i9000 with Android 2.1. Cannot even load it.

  11. Avenged110

    Boo, android

  12. I didn’t like the app… it’s really ugly and i prefer the design that has the mobile web. But i until have the app in my phone, i will wait a little bit for updates.

  13. Adam

Pictures flicker when scrolling. Option to share using own Twitter client such as Seesmic would be better (and faster) than having to use Twitters web based client.

  14. Adam

Refreshing comments removes all but one comment. Press back then go back to comments and they reappear.

  15. Adam S

Top screen tab menu says Android but selecting Menu > More > gives same menu except last option says Apple instead of Android but still brings up Android posts.

  16. Crashes during startup on HTC Desire with Froyo 2.2

  17. Adam

Vadim, if I press the tweet button it automatically opens the web browser and goes to the twitter site. It doesn’t give any option to select a client. I use Seesmic.

  18. Super. Now I can get unfettered access to Mashable's obvious Jobs and Apple whoreship on my uber superior rooted original DROID running Froyo.

  19. “Step 3. Open the browser link (the link will direct your the Android Marketplace”

Not only are you writing shit, your grammar has turned to shit too.

  20. Is the Android any more reliable than the Droid? The droid has been awful, like a lemon car

  21. im so sick of apps that are not made for android 1.5 so fckn stupid , we buy phones from the phone company that supply us with this crappy ass 1.5 and take forever to update it , its not right i wish i had a iphone so i wouldnt have to deal with this

  22. Lorensius W. L. T

Works fine on my Galaxy spica, thanx.. :)

  23. Works fine on my Galaxy Spica, thanx ..:-)

  24. kaeinux

finally i can read mashable thru my htc desire!! not only my ipadgreat work!

  25. Keri

I love the app & works fine on the Verizon Droid. I do have 2 issues. The update does not give me Facebook share option which I’d love to have & when commenting it would be nice if the screen could rotate for better typing. You have no idea how many times the delete button was used just for this comment.

  26. As you may have noticed the QR Code in this article doesn’t take one directly to the Android Market, but rather to the http://www.androidzoom.com site. We had this problem as well when creating a QR Code for our App at http://alti.asu.edu.

What we discovered was that the QR Codes that AndroidZoom provides only work for about an hour or less, then they default to their own pages. A QR Code that sticks needs to be a direct link to the Market in the form of market://… and contain the specific App “pname”.

Here is the correct link for the Official Mashable App.
    market://search?q=pname:com.intridea.mashable
Input this link into a QR Code generator such as http://zxing.appspot.com/generator/ to generate the proper QR Code. QR Codes can also be generated on the Android device using the “App Referrer” App.

    Cool.

  27. Mashable you guys rock, but I’m going to pass….
Between Facebook, email subscriptions, and RSS Feeds I’m already on the edge of Mashable overload.

  28. I see all of your stories on Facebook and RSS feeds. Don’t really see a point in this app.

  29. The QR code goes to the webpage and it should go to the download link.

  30. Meredith Allison @RockTique

Thank you!! This made my day…downloading NOW! Will give feedback shortly but can say that the fact you’re showing some Android love is a step in the right direction, Yippee!

  31. Meredith Allison @RockTique

Force closing on Nexus One :( Also, my comments on mobile mashable have disappeared & are not showing on my tweet stream as well…I’ve had this problem before & am not sure if it has to do with Disqus or mashable. Any advice? Side note: Android app looks great & I’ve faith you will be fixing bugs :)

  32. Doesn't work in my HTC Wildfire (320×240) Please Add support for that.

  33. There was another mashable app that didn't hold up for me. I prefer this app instead. I'm one of the types to prefer an app than a mobile site. Seems I can get to the articles much faster, better integration into the OS and just a smoother experience. BUT…..

I just installed tweetdeck (beta) on my GalaxyS (AT&T) and have slowly migrated away from the mashable app…

(The only problem with the photoshopped pic, it's not clear that the picture is 2 screens and not one wide view)

  34. It needs Move to SD Card support

  35. I got it installed and running on my MyTouch 3G w the 3.5mm jack, still running Android 1.6 (waiting for the OTA update from Tmobile), even though the market description recommends phones running 2.0 or higher. It seems to function fine, except it doesn't auto rotate, and the toolbar across the top cuts off showing “All, Social Media, Mobile, Web Vi-” I see there are more categories when I press the menu button on my phone and select “More”. The articles themselves seem to be auto-adjusting to display fine on my screen, though.

  36. Doesn't allow me to download from the Market on my HTC Hero. I'll just follow on Twitter I guess.

  37. marfi

Where I can get the .apk? I will try to run it on a lower version of Android.

  38. what's with the QR code only linking to a website, why not link directly to the app in the market place.

  39. cammydude144

About to use it lets see if i get hooked :)

  40. PixieScarlette

Can't download it on Motorola Cliq. I scanned the barcode, and tried to download from the website, and the market can't find it. Nor can I search Mashable in the market

  41. kasx93

I can't find it in the market, please fix this problem about filter!

My phone is: samsung corby smartphone i5500 – Android 2.1

  42. download and installed! It works fine

    Thank you

  43. Anonymous

I don’t get the negative vibe people have. If you don’t like the design or the idea of a mobile app for Mashable, that’s fine. The app does what it says it does. Sounds good to me.

  44. what's the point of having a QR code point to a webpage rather than directly to the app, and anyways the link doesn't show any results when I tried it. (HTC Wildfire, not that that should make any difference.)

  45. The App is Great. However you need to add “Install to SD” option to it!
Also it would be great to remove the loading screen in the beginning. Arcitles should be loaded in a background.

  46. Cliff

Sorry, but between the feed in Google Reader, following on Twitter, and adding you on Facebook… There is no shortage of Mashable exposure in my life. A dedicated app is a bit much. But still great to see some Android love (finally)!
