Being a parent is far from an easy task. Anxieties about whether you are doing the right thing for your child are inevitable, and there is always the not insignificant matter of getting a small, complex and incredibly determined individual to bend to your will. Parents always look out for their children and are inevitably keen to make sure that their kids are strong, healthy and get the best possible start in life.

To that end, parents often tell their children things that have been passed around so often that everyone "just knows" them. The trouble is, very often these "facts" are taken as truths simply because they have been repeated so frequently. Some may have a grain of truth that has then been extended beyond the breaking point, while others are just plain crazy. In every case, it is likely that you have heard these being used, but it’s time to put a stop to all the lies.
