Test Chamber: NCAA Football 13

Shoulder a concrete pig and pump a fist high into the air! A new installment in EA Sports' long-running college football series hit store shelves today, and Game Informer's grid iron enthusiast Matthew Kato calls it a key moment in the franchise’s larger history. Kato took time out of his busy schedule to point out exactly how this year's game differs from previous iterations. I, of course, derail the talk when I see an elephant on the sidelines during one of the games. Kato does his best to keep the talk focused on the gameplay, but that damn elephant keeps showing up.

  • Football!

  • I was hoping for a test chamber today, it was a slow day otherwise and definitely made it better.

  • Neither of these people know anything about college football.
  • This is honestly a joke. I assumed Kato felt the need to further touch on some issues that were not addressed in his embarrassingly short review on such a stable franchise for many college football fans. Instead I'm listening to two boneheads explain what "play art" is and why a particular play is being challenged.

GameInformer is the best and I will always defend them, but maybe it’s time I look elsewhere for my sports-gaming news as the majority of the titles I play are in fact sports games and the crew here are simply ignorant.
  • Fun Fact - Gatorade was invented by the staff of the Florida Gators.

The movement animation was smooth, compared to Madden games. Don't care much about college football, but that elephant was awesome. It sure liked to dance.
  • Lol, for some reason I found Reiner's "What is that?!" to the Alabama mascot to be hilarious.  Thanks for the Test Chamber.

  • "What is that!?" My favorite quote from Reiner.
  • I'd like to see better animations when they switch to next-gen. If they could somehow get the NaturalMotion euphoria engine from Backbreaker and mix it with all the great game modes and everything from NCAA Football that makes it great, that would be amazing. That won't happen though.

  • Go Hawkeyes! Fun fact, these editors are from Minnesota right? Well the pig or Floyd of Rosedale is the Trophy that the university of Minnesota and Iowa play for and look whos hoisting the pig!

  • Very nice indeed. While Both NCAA 10 and 11 had better review scores (as did 12), I can see why this one is actually a better reboot.

  • More Kato on GI videos
  • why didnt you just try out mascot mode and play as the elephants versus the Trees?

  • I have to agree with the with the descreption of " that damn elephant"

  • Description*

  • You mean the Pittsburgh Panther, not the Nittany Lion.  Don't want any of that slap slap slapping here.

Yeah, I went there.  Big deal so what you wanna fight about it?

  • Kato sounds like a sports caster

  • Go up to Reiner say HI and runaway and he will say WHAT WAS THAT!

  • Picked it up yesterday and the gameplay is very smooth. I haven't played NCAA since about 2009 so it was fun getting back into it.

  • Let's get a petition for better mascot physics and collisions!
