Microsoft Secures 'Xbox 8' Domain

Microsoft secured a number of domain names recently, one of which is called Xbox 8. The names were acquired after the company won two disputes in May with the National Arbitration Forum over a resident in China who originally registered them.

The names include: xbox8.org, xbox8.us, xboxcompanion.com, xboxlivetv.com, xboxphone.com, and xboxtablet.com.

"Microsoft often acquires various domain names as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment," a spokesperson told Game Informer.

Perhaps they're making something called Xbox unlimited and are afraid people will take Xbox 8 domain since it's like a sideways infinite sign? Otherwise Xbox 8 seems too obscure, they wouldn't name their next console that or anything.

The 'Xbox 8' domains are .org and .us domains. It would have been a .com domain if it were to be a site for the new Xbox.

Sounds about right, being that they have Windows Phone 8, AND Windows 8 coming up. Why not add another "8" to the lineup, I guess!?

Xbox infinty would be cool, considering I just read an ign article saying it was possible that cloud gaming could make this upcoming console generation the last necessary. However current Xbox elites come with only 4 GB of storage space, built in, and the upcoming halo requires 8 gigs to play multiplayer, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Xbox upgrade its internal storage beginning with a Halo 4 special edition. However it would be Quite stupid to release with only enough storage space to play halo, so perhaps it will come with halo pre loaded and additional 4GB
