Test Chamber: Resident Evil 6 Demo

Purchasers of Capcom's Dragon's Dogma have an extra treat today. A code to unlock an exclusive Resident Evil 6 demo came with new copies of the game, and it's now active. The demo allows players to try out healthy chunks of Leon, Chris, and Jake's campaigns. This is the exact same demo I played at E3 2012, and all together it's about an hour of Resident Evil 6. I teamed up with Ben Reeves and Andrew Reiner to show you some of Chris Redfield's exploits in China. Tons of the new J'avo enemies attack the BSAA agents, allowing us to show off the new gameplay, including the ability to move and shoot.

  • What the What? A nice look at the game before it is out? Test Chamber is evolving!
  • Can. Not. Wait.

  • All Yeah!
  • Going to be epic!

  • ooh capcom you whores.......After being a long time fan like alot of people i feel like i got spat on =/

It is very indeed awesome and i can't wait.
  • Played the crap out of it all morning! All three campaigns felt different and I was pleased to find out that you could turn off way points and set the the aiming system to the classic laser pointer. The movement options are awesome once you become acclimated to them, running past an enemy and sliding into a prone position for a head shot feels amazing. I love it that now the start menu pops up in real time ala Demon's/Dark Souls, so you're never really safe. They even have a gun in Jake's campaign called the "Elephant Killer" as a bit of a throwback to a bit of dialogue the Merchant once said. "What d'you need that for? Goin' huntin' an elephant?!" I simply can not wait for the full game.
  • Resident Evil Siixxxxxxxxxxxsssssssss

  • Looks cool. I'm glad tank controls are gone, I might enjoy an RE now.

  • Is the demo going to come to the Marketplace anytime soon? I'm interested in playing it, but I don't want to buy a whole game just to get access to the demo. I'm just not that interested in Dragon's Dogma.
  • Awesome
  • I can't wait till I get to play the demo. It looks great so far.

  • Not a big fan of how blurry it gets while you're in cover, but it still looks like a fun game.
  • Mod
Looks fun. I wish they would pull the camera back just a little bit though. I felt like I was right up on Chris and his aftershave stinks.
  • Looks boring.
  • Wow!
  • For some reason the PSN says my code is invalid, WTF, anyone knows where do I complain?
  • Guess I was a bit quick to judge this game after reading another blog about this demo, it's actually more promising than expected. I may be having a tough time come October deciding between this or Dishonored.
  • Looks neat.

  • So at what point does a series play too much like everything else out there? Or the story become too convoluted, etc.? Also, why is Chris so ridiculous? Too much steroids? Now he's crawling on air... It does remind me of Dead Space, a lot, but at the same time Dead Space seems to want to become RE...
  • Good looking demo.

To answer your question about swords:

Knives usually and typically don't have a hilt and are typically shorter than 10 inches (Chris's machete is well over that). Most knives are single edged, while there are more double bladed swords than "back-bladed" swords. Knives also on standard are balanced so that you can hold it from either end and it will feel the same weight no matter which way you hold it. Knives typically can be used for throwing, stabbing, or slashing.

Swords are weighted so that all the weight (in most cases) is in the grip so as to help generate momentum with the use of a pommel. Swords, as most of us know, are used for stabbing, and slashing.

A Machete is typically a very flexible short sword, that is more like a meat cleaver that is between 12-24 inches. Machete's due to their unbalanced nature, and flexible blade are able to generate an enormous amount of momentum on a swing, but will typically flex (or possibly break) and bend on a stab, as they were primarily developed to cleave at the base of the blade, and slash through underbrush (or opponents) at the tip.
