Number of KUB customers without power down to 3,000

The Knoxville Utilities Board has restored power to more than 53,000 customers since Thursday evening's violent storm, but 3,000 remained without power as of 6:30 a.m. today, according to a KUB press release.

Crews are still working around the clock to restore power at spots throughout the KUB service area, the report stated.

KUB anticipated that most customers will have power by late Sunday, but some restoration work may extend into Monday.

Call KUB at 524-2911 or 1-800-250-8068 to report outages.

The Red Cross opened a shelter at South-Doyle High School on Friday afternoon. Call 311 for a recording listing the shelter location and places people can go to get cool, such as malls, movie theaters and restaurants.
