'Gears of War: Judgment' writers are Tom Bissell and Rob Auten

Gears of War: Judgment is being written not by Gears of War 3 scribe Karen Traviss, but by Extra Lives author Tom Bissell and Rob Auten, Epic Games revealed to Eurogamer.

Traviss told IGN earlier this month that she was no longer working on the Gears franchise.

Why Kickstarter 'can't' and won't protect backers once a project is funded

Last April was the first time it seemed plausible for a Kickstarter backer to find themselves in a precarious relationship with a video game developer. In late April, Kickstarter's most public video game scam, Mythic: The Story of Gods and Men, was cancelled by its developer after Internet vigilantes pointed out it seemed to be mostly smoke and mirrors.

Kickstarter is still a relatively young company, designed as a crowdsourcing platform for creative projects to get off the ground. Project creators offer rewards to users who pledge as much as $10,000 to help fund their products from watches, to websites, to video games. It's already become the setting of a number of high-profile Cinderella stories and helped titles like Republique and more recently SpaceVenture reach goals of hundreds of thousands of dollars to cover development costs....

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is getting special treatment for its release in Europe. The PlayStation 3 role-playing game, a collaboration between developer Level-5 and animation experts Studio Ghibli, will get a bonus-packed "Wizard's Edition" when it's released next year.

Namco Bandai announced the collector's edition release today, which includes the Wizard's Companion hardcover book, a recreation of the in-game spellbook used by protagonist Oliver. The full-color, 300-page book contains a "bestiary of all the creatures found in the game along with in-depth item descriptions, spells and history of the other world," Namco says.

Square Enix employees are the highest paid in the industry, according to Nensyu Lab's top salary chart.

As reported by Andriasang, the chart places employees of Square Enix at an average salary of ¥21.68 million, roughly $272,384.40. In comparison, Sony and Nintendo employees are paid ¥9.23 million and ¥9.14 million, respectively. This translates to roughly $116,232.40 and $115.099.10.

Zynga's price shares dropped an additional four percent today, continuing the trend of a downturn in stocks following the company's recent "Zynga Unleashed" press conference this week.
