Sony SmartWatch

Verge Review

The Sony SmartWatch is an intriguing device — a secondary display for your Android-powered handset that provides quick access to notifications from select apps and services on your phone. It’s also able to show you who's calling or texting, control music, and even tell the time. There's been a growing trend for products like this over the past few months, from the WIMM One to Fossil’s MetaWatch, but Sony’s is one of the first of this latest wave (along with the inPulse) to make it to...

All in all, the Verge review hit this pretty much dead on.

This watch is cool, but very niche, and hard to justify for $150.

The app selection is pretty thin as of right now, and downloading a separate APK from the market for each widget seems like a clunky solution at best. I had to install the LiveView manager, SmartWatch connector application, and about a dozen tiny apps from the Google Play store just to get this thing set up.

There is a constant, non-removable notification in my tray now too.

Overall, the device feels very beta and niche.
