Judge suggests Ceglia motions aim to stall Facebook case

The judge hearing pretrial motions in Paul Ceglia's lawsuit against Facebook suspects the man suing for half of the social-networking giant is trying to stall the legal proceedings and has suggested that further sanctions might be necessary as a result.

Federal Magistrate Leslie G. Foschio, for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, sometimes used strong language in today in explaining his reasons for dismissing five motions filed by Ceglia while granting one. The motions ranged from requests to compel Facebook attorneys to produce a letter that was included in an earlier order to more

Instagram adds likes, comments in Web page expansion

Instagram has increased its Web presence with a site overhaul that includes the addition of more interactive features.

The update adds the options to like and comment on photos and the ability to log in to edit profile options from a desktop Web browser. The update also sports a new blue-and-white color scheme reminiscent of the app. However, as The Verge points out, the update still lacks feature parity between the app, and Web and photo browsing is limited.

Instagram user interface designer Maykel Loomans announced the overhaul in a tweet this afternoon:

Did RIM just meet its Waterloo? (No, not Waterloo, Ontario)

Did RIM just meet its Waterloo? (No, not Waterloo, Ontario)
Where to start? So much went so wrong during Research in Motion's fiscal first quarter that anyone looking for the proverbial silver lining in today's dismal earnings report would go blind.

By now even the most patient RIM investor is likely going to scream bloody murder after this mess of a report which was worse than many expected, if that's possible. The highlights:

  • The company lost $518 million, or 99 cents a share, compared with net earnings of $695 million, or $1.33 a share, in the same period a year earlier. Wall Street was expecting an "

Extreme keynoting: How Google pulled off its skydiving stunt

Sergey Brin stormed on the stage in his Google Glasses like Ironman Tony Stark, prepared to give the crowd of 5,500 developers what he called an "awesome" display of technology and daredevil live action.

He gave the play-by-play as a troop of skydivers, bikers, and rope rappelers converged on the Moscone convention center, in a scene that could have been the opening sequence of a "Mission: Impossible" movie (if it wasn't part of Brin's Google I/O Glass demo).

The skydivers made jumping out of an airship look easy. But before they could do it, Google more

Google's next offline apps: Presentations, Spreadsheet

SAN FRANCISCO -- Adding offline editing abilities to Google Docs may sound like a modest, incremental change, but it's actually a major step ahead for the company's Web-based services.

And those services will take two more steps soon: Offline editing is coming to the Presentations and Spreadsheet apps, too.

"You'll see that coming out before long," Alan Warren, senior director for Google Docs and Drive, said in an interview at the Google I/O show here. Both of the apps will allow users to read and edit files offline, he added, with editing abilities coming "pretty close" more

Specifically, he showed how the sync feature that Google recently added to Chrome will work on iOS devices. Sync allows people to share their browser settings across multiple more

Is Pinterest more popular than Tumblr in the U.S.?

It's well known that Pinterest is growing in leaps and bounds. But is that success starting to outpace even popular microblogging site Tumblr in the U.S.?

Royal Pingdom today revealed the results of data it compiled comparing traffic for both Pinterest and Tumblr. The blog first turned to Alexa, and found Pinterest to be just inching out Tumblr in traffic. On Google Trends, Pinterest scored more daily unique visitors than Tumblr. However, analytics services Compete and Quantcast gave the nod to Tumblr.

Not satisfied with the results, Royal Pingdom moved on to research firms, and found that Experian more
