In addition to his famed tirades was Jobs' "reality distortion field." Jobs would draw a picture of the world that seemed to defy all reality. At worst, he simply lied. At best, he cast a vision of what could be and then got others caught up in making that vision a new reality.
Let's get it out on the table, right up front. I am a guy, and not apologetic about this. I'm a person with a paunch, with bristly whiskers that my wife wants shaved (I won't), and a tendency to talk about myself.

When I was growing up, family dinner was not called family dinner. It was called dinner.
Nerd Haiku celebrates everything that nerds hold dear: from comic books to summer blockbusters to fast-acting asthma medications. And maybe it will serve as a bridge, a bifrost if you will, inviting others into the warm and welcoming folds of our invisibility cloaks.
My favorite memory of Emma is reading it in a hammock at the edge of my uncle's orchard outside Tel-Aviv. I loved it best among her books at the time, and I'd brought it with me almost as a talisman since I'd never been so far from home.
Here are five literary giants whose hearts were impaled by Cupid's arrow in the most brutal way. Rather than wallow in self-pity, these tortured scribes picked themselves up and stabbed Cupid right back -- with their pens.
