Minecraft Xbox 360's instalment of the PC version's much-coveted 1.7.3 alpha update - not to be confused with last week's incremental, Xbox-specific fix - will land in early July, according to 4J Studios.
Official: July is now Shears & Pistons Month! It's going to be a veritable orgy of foliage-trimming and hydraulics.
So, how are you planning to make use of those pistons? My dream is to create a massive functional pinball table. If you're the schoolboy sort - and I'm just speculating here, understand - you could also cunningly arrange pistons so as to cause a massive stone phallus to poke up and down. 'Twas for feats such as this that God gave us brains.
Here's a rough and ready 1.7.3 feature list - mostly based on what we know of the PC version, and thus very much subject to change pending official announcements:
- Added pistons.
- Fixed clay generation.
- Flint and Steel or redstone is now required to trigger TNT.
- Fences can be stacked.
- Added Shears.
- Redstone wire now will connect to a repeater.
- Shears can be used to pick up leaf blocks.
- Shears can be used to shear sheep without hurting them
- Sheep no longer drop wool from being punched, only from being killed when they are unsheared.
- New textures for Cobblestone and Brick blocks.

Hopefully the creation mode will be after this next update. While I like the whole mining thing, having to work with limited buildng materials gets a bit boring when you realise you're gonna run out sooner or later.

No offense but you have the version info slightly wrong...The current version is beta 1.6.6....the next is beta 1.7.3 then beta 1.8.2 then it jumps to official release version 1.2.3

It's not (Beta Version) 1.2.3 that's full release 1.2.3. We are in the equivalent of PC beta.
Clear your cache and duplicate what you need, then re-update. It deletes the patch. For every game though. No biggy.
I found a small amount of clay in my world that I hadn't explored before the update, so I mined it, them cleared the cache and duplicated it. Fair game IMO, didn't do anything else.

I haven't actually attempted to make anything redstone related yet... It's rather confusing, however after this patch I think i'll give the pistons a go, see what interesting s**t I can make.
