Minecraft Xbox 360 update: Autosave patch gets a launch date

4J Studios update survives certification

The first Minecraft Xbox 360 update will launch tomorrow, 15th June. Finally - the sweet, cherished release of an Autosave function. Also: you'll be told when you're about to burn your house down.

The update addresses a number of bugs including crashes during game saves, adds the option to display Gamertags during splitscreen, and folds in new tutorial screens (along with the option to disable them, thankfully). The full list of changes is below.

This is one of the easier updates. According to 4J's Paddy Burns, Minecraft's "Adventure" update will be the trickiest thanks to its wealth of new modes and features. For some background on all that, peruse the following: Minecraft Xbox 360: the five greatest technical challenges and Minecraft Xbox 360: memory limits, mods, spliscreen and free updates.

PS. This just in from Burns: "Meant to say thanks - I added the option to display Gamertags during splitscreen after watching your "Minecraft on Xbox 360: four player splitscreen chaos" video where you had the player names overlaid." We're making a difference, people!

Features:

* Added an autosave, and the ability to turn autosave off, or set it from 15 minutes up to 2 hours in 15 minute steps.

* Split the sensitivity controls into an in-game sensitivity and an in-menu sensitivity.

  2. Finally a fix for clay, but doesn't this mean we'll have to restart our worlds?

No that might be after 1.8 or 9 they have bigger maps on the pc one.I read that you would only have to start again if you have uncovered the whole map as well, which i have worse luck.

  4. Wait, when will pistons be added then? I thought this update was adding them

Pistons are one of the many things coming in the "matching up to the newer builds of the PC version" updates with the numerical naming convention (or the "1.7" update) - this is a 360-version-specific update to fix some 360 version specific issues.

  6. Im really wanting to know, once this update is applied to my game will i have to make another world or will the updates be applied to my current world? :)
