Aren't I cunning looking?

Well, it's been a year, so I suppose I should update this thing. For those who don't know, my name is Sam, and I am currently RPGamer's Editorials Curator. My job is to provide a stellar weekly column to showcase the opinions of both staff editors and our readers. Writing editorials allows me the chance to share some of my personal gaming opinions, and I'm someone who always looks for many different points of view in different issues and problems. Outside of editorials, I also do some news, media, content, as well as doing interviews when something comes along to tickle my fancy. I am a recent graduate of York University, and majored in English Literature, with a minor in East Asian studies. I love reading, and I love learning about various cultures, particularly, Korea and Japan.

I've been gaming for as long as I can remember, starting with games from the NES area, like Super Mario Bros. and Contra and then working my way up the generations. I do not play PC games, and with the reason that I've never had a stable computer to play them on. My first RPG was Chrono Trigger and while it holds a dear place in my heart, Valkyrie Profile is my all time favourite RPG and will probably never ever be replaced. I don't think I've ever played a game that has had such a profound effect on me. I'm a huge fan of unique RPG settings and detailed plots; something I believe the SNES and PSX era had right for the most part. If I had to choose between plot and gameplay, obviously as a student of literature, I'd choose plot. I live and breathe stories. I love telling stories, and I love hearing of other people's experiences, which is why RPGs are the perfect genre of game for me.

I currently have a gaming backlog that I have yet to figure out how to tone down. I love trying new kinds of games and the weirder the concept, the better. I love recommendations, and to chat about gaming. If anyone would ever like to get a hold of me, e-mail me or poke me in IRC and I'll generally respond. I like hearing what others have to say, and mention Suikoden or Valkyrie Profile and you can really get me going! Also, giant robots. I like giant robots, I admit it. Discuss giant robots with me, and I'll give you an e-cookie!

Not much else to say, just glad to be the not-so-new girl on the beat.
