Limbo successor concept art and details revealed

Details of Limbo developer PlayDead's next game have been published on the Danish Film Institute's website, along with the below concept art.

The DFI is contributing 1,000,000 krone to what's currently called Project 2, and reveals that the game "tells the story of a boy's struggle against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies."

The grant recipients listing describes it as a 2D platformer which takes place in a 3D environment, and even specifies that it will be in colour (something enabled by the use of Unity's platform over PlayDead's Limbo engine, which CEO Dino Patti told us last year only works in black and white now).

PlayDead has estimated that the game will take around three and a half years to finish, suggesting a 2014 release. It will launch on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac.
