About Me
I am a founder of Universal Value Advisors (formally Ancora West Advisors, LLC,),their chief economist, and a portfolio manager. My entire professional life has been in the financial industry. In my youth, I was a bank staff economist, a bank bond portfolio manager, a University Professor, and then a small bank CFO. I spent 16 years as the CEO of a community bank which was sold to a larger entity, and since 2000, have been in the investment advisory business. I have been a Director and Chairman of Federal Home Loan Bank of SF, and am currently a Director (formerly Chairman) of the AAA Northern California, Nevada, and Utah auto club and a Director (formerly Chairman) of the associated AAA Insurance Company. I am currently Chairman of the Insurance Company's Investment Committee which oversees $5+ billion of investible assets. In addition, I am a Director of Allied Mineral Products, America's premier refractory company. I believe that, today, debt is the most pressing economic issue, and my experiences and observations have taught me the dangers embedded in the over use of leverage.
