Public Media Policy

Public media encompass more than just NPR and PBS. They include all media outlets and formats whose mission is to serve the public rather than to earn a profit. Public media educate, engage and inform audiences, and offer an essential alternative to mainstream commercial media.

Free Press supports policies that promote nonprofit noncommercial media and foster a world-class public media system. Free Press is working to expand Low Power FM and community radio stations, protect public access TV and support small-circulation independent media.
