Jeff: United States

For the past few years, the modulation level of your 49 meter band frequencies to North America has been low compared to other shortwave stations of the same relative signal strength. I can remember 15 or 20 years ago, you were much louder. You use to have one of the loudest, clearest signals in the 49 and 31 meter bands at night in New England. Now, even though the average carrier strength is about the same, the modulation is so low, it is often difficult to hear what is being said. I hope you can "crank it back up" to 100 percent modulation levels sometime soon.

SHRI PAUL GARG ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): INDIA

hello Radio newzealand ! greetings from all of us here in north indian state of punjab.. wish you all the healthy future..

here i am sending an essay on the coming VALENTINE DAY , and according to me it is the reflection of today "s hi-tech and fast becoming life...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                ##   VALENTINE DAY  ## In this age of instant coffee, fast food, facebook, twitter and net chat, VALENTINE DAY has taken on  a different meaning for the young... Though still a symbol of love and romance, it is the commitment part that is in the danger of getting lost in the frenetic lives of GenNext.. For an increasing number of young people,VALENTINE DAY simply means a day to hang out with their respective boyfriends/girlfreinds , go see a movie or visit a pub , possibly exchange gifts that will probably lie forgotten in a corner for sometime and then head straight for the dustbin after the break up , which is becoming a common phenomeneon....... In today"s world of fast changing mores , many young people  are redefining the meaning of a relationship. For them , no strings attached ties are easy and comfortable.. as many of them says--long term affairs are boring and relationships have to be sweet and short--... It"s not that young people are not falling in love .they are .but they are also falling out of love as quickly. no one wants or expects love to last foreever.. Commintments change , people move on and on..and no one minds..long term relationships are a thing of the past..... Being dumped by someone is not a matter of great significance anymore..after smarting for a short time , the race for bagging better dates begins with a vengeance.. There are less people who take  Valentine"s day seriously. For them the search for the right partner is all important.. And although this may be the age of the bubblegum romance , there are many others , who believe that Valentine"s day means something more than just an exchange of superficial gifts..It means commitment , trust and eventual marriage...... As i conclude---VALENTINE"s DAY has sancity..It"s not about flirting..It is a day to celebrate true love and commitment is VITAL...... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THERE IS A FUNNY THING---IN INDIA SPECIALLY
VALENTINE"S DAY COMES ON ------14th FEB. EVERY YEAR  CHILDREN"S DAY COMES ON --------14th NOVEMBER EVERY YEAR
AND THAT IS JUST AFTER 9 MONTHS AFTER THE VALENTINES MEET !!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
ISN"T INTERESTING ?

Please play the song for us on this special occasion .........

Michael J. Roseberry ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): United States of America

Greetings from Texas:

I often listen to your fine broadcast via shortware, usually in the fourty-nine meter band.  I use a modest portable receiver with an integral whip antenna, the Sony model SW7600.  Reception varies widely:  sometimes your programs are heard clearly; sometimes they are accompanied with considerable noise, as is normal within the shortwave bands.  Nearly every night I "give the band a try", so-to-speak, and when the signal is clear, enjoy extended listening to your enjoyable programming.

I love Latin American music and this is the main reason I am writing today.  Often I hear a program having to do with Cuban Culture, and I would like to discover the name of the introduction (and exit) music always accompaning this program.  The music is begun on piano in a spritely latin rhythm; it is very melodic.  Can you help me identify that introductory music?  If so, please drop me an email, at your convenience, with the name of the piece, and if known, the name of the artist(s) who are performing it along with the name of the recording.  I would appreciate this very much as I would like to purchase a copy of this music for my music collection.

Thank you very much in advance,

Michael J. Roseberry

Comrades can i ask if i could have a cuban penpal, i am Ryan 39 from london and a member of the communist party. I made my first trip to cuba in July and loved it. Cuba is a safe country with friendly people as well as a fantastic political system, as someone who supports the party can i correspond with a cuban who like me supports the socialist system.

Dear Sirs Radio Havana, Cuba.  I am an (old) italian Short Wave Listener. I would like to listen to Radio Avana, but on your Website (www.radiohc.cu) appear only frequencies beamed toward North, Central and South America. I remember that several years ago there were some frequencies beamed toward Europe/Mediterranean in English language (e.g.:13750 kHz, 13660 kHz USB, 9830 kHz USB, 11705 kHz USB, etc. etc.)

Are there still some short wave frequencies broadcast toward Europe/Mediterranean areas? If yes, would you mind tell me where could I find time and frequencies?

I thank you in advance for your help.

My best personal regards.

Yours faithfully         Piero Bordino

I also regularly listen to the Mailbag Show. I live in Florida and since I've been listening to Radio Havana, it feels like I'm just now getting to know my neighbor. Keep up the good work.

If you send out QSL cards, I would very much like one. My address is 417 Strandview Drive, Pensacola, FL 32514

Your signal is generally recieved at 2.3-2.5 KC between 7-8:00pm PST on cool, clear evenings. Thank you for the wonderful radio programming service you provide, all politics aside.

Hello, I am glad to have the chance of being in touch with you this way. I listen regularly to your programming on the internet, that's the only way I have to do it. I listen both in English and Spanish. I majored in Spanish and English in Cuba at the University of Havana, and this is a good way to be updated.

Thanks for everything, and good luck!

Parts of the RHC website require the use of the proprietary "Adobe Flash" plug-in in web browsers.   It would be much better if the site didn't make use of this.  The site would load quicker particularly on slow internet connections and on slower older computers.

Also, it would be great if you could switch your audio streaming away from the proprietary Microsoft Windows Media Player format in favour of the non-proprietary free (libre) ogg vorbis format.   It is much more in keeping with Cuban values of independence and social solidarity.

In solidarity

Dear Radio Havana Cuba Friends

The new website is good. However, it should be more interactive. You may think of keeping some streaming video and voice as well.

I also like to see more information on sports and cultures of Cuba. Also the travel tips and information are also very crucial.

We keep on enjoying your program.

Please send us some information materials and Cuban postal stamps for collection.

Thanks
