OXM Double Take: the problem with Kinect Star Wars

Well, one of the problems

It's the end of the week - well, it is for us, because it's Good Friday tomorrow and we're not going to be here. So we're going to give you a new OXM Double Take a whole day early, in which Matt joins the clamour about Kinect Star Wars.

It's not just moaning about the Galactic Dance Mode, though - that's been done. No, Matt is more concerned about the message we're sending out about slavery and body image. OXM: thinking deeper about modern gaming.

He'll be ruminating again next week. Let us know if there's anything worthy of coverage.

  1. I'm not getting a video player ed, safari is my browser.

  2. I'm on IE9 and getting no vid, either. :(

I think there's a problem with the last character of the YouTube video ID, as it's coming out as a question mark.

  3. Should be working now... have a good Easter weekend.

  4. Works for me on both Firefox and Chrome. :?

  5. Thanks all fixed Happy Jesus everyone.

  6. Does seem like a slightly inappropriate get-up for the kids, but it's everywhere these days, I knew that kids were doomed when a Kinder Bueno seductively (?) said "lick my ripples" so this isn't so much of a surprise.

When this does become a major concern though is when I have children of my own. I wonder if PEGI took these thoughts into account when rating the game? Perhaps I'm just over-thinking this now...

Wait. A Kinder Bueno asked you to lick its nipples?

This isn't exactly the example I was looking for but it will have to do:

The one I was referring to was a female voice and was without the racism...
