Optional Modules: Business Management

For the awards of MSc and Diploma, students study six Optional Modules, of which one or two must be classed as 'Business Management'. Each Business Management Optional Module involves a three-day intensive short course hosted by Newcastle University, which may be preceded by preparatory study and is followed by coursework and an examination. Business Management Modules provide the understanding and skills needed to apply hydroinformatic tools and systems to management and decision making processes.

Optional Modules are delivered in yearly, two-yearly or three-yearly cycles, giving students the opportunity to take any of the Modules offered over the duration of their studies.

Such participants usually include industry professionals who attend the courses in the capacity of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and full-time MSc and PhD students who are resident at the University. This mix of participants is beneficial, providing different perspectives on the issues raised, and in many cases offering the chance of networking and discussion with other industry professionals.
