Jagex today announced that it is going to be attending MCM Expo in London this May to show off Transformers Universe and promote its long-standing free-to-play MMORPG RuneScape.

As well as showing off both titles on its own stand, Jagex is bringing both the RuneScape and Transformers Universe development teams to the GameSpot UK stage. Members of the Transformers Universe team will be on hand at midday on Saturday to give attendees a glimpse into the development process, while the RuneScape developers will be there at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

As well as limited-edition prizes that will be on offer during both stage sessions, Jagex says that it will be offering a limited-edition boxed version of RuneScape at the show. This will contain "an assortment of limited-edition cosmetic items, game membership, and an exclusive MCM RuneScape T-shirt."

Transformers fans will be able to be the first in the UK to get the chance to reserve their character names for Transformers Universe at the show, as well as choose their side in the Autobot/Decepticon conflict.

  • World of Barcraft

Walking into your local pub on a Saturday afternoon, the most likely thing you're going to see is a bunch of sweaty fans huddled around a plasma screen watching a football match. If you'd visited the Assembly House pub in Kentish Town last weekend, though, it was a radically different picture. Rather than football chants, the bar was filled with the on-edge atmosphere of dozens of real-time strategy fans witnessing the increasing excitement of a Starcraft II tournament.

You first reaction may be "huh?" but it's an idea that has gone down well with its supporters. Known as Barcraft, the phenomenon started in Seattle last May and has spread to the UK and Europe. The British side of this eSport invasion has already appeared in Bristol and London, and what we saw of the latter seemed nothing less than a success.

Setting up Barcraft London was not easy, with many bars declining the idea. Yet for the landlord of the Assembly House, the decision to say yes to screening Starcraft II tournaments has certainly reaped benefits. Not only are the fans of Blizzard's RTS better behaved than some traditional sport fans, but since the tournament lasts a full weekend, they remain in the pub for longer. The tournaments are also streamed online for free, meaning the pub doesn't have to pay a licence fee as with other sports.

Take a look at the video to see Barcraft London in action, and catch the reaction from the Starcraft fans who attended to view the Major League Gaming tournament.

Following the announcement that SoulCalibur V, Saints Row: The Third, and Ridge Racer Unbounded will be playable at the MCM Expo this month, GameSpot UK is thrilled to reveal that Trials: Evolution and King of Fighters XIII will also be playable at our booths!

Developer Redlynx will be showing off the sequel to its hugely successful Trials HD on the stand. It adds four-player multiplayer, new track designs, and new environments to the incredibly addictive gameplay of its predecessor. We'll be hosting a time-trial tournament through Friday and Saturday, inviting the top scorers onto our stage to compete in front of the MCM crowd for the chance to win some fantastic prizes on Sunday.

We will also be hosting the finals of the King of Fighters XIII tournament on our stage over the weekend, giving fans the chance to see some of the top KOF tournament players kick some ass! The game isn't scheduled for release until November 25 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, so MCM is a chance to see the game in action a month before then!

With Battlefield 3 set to be one of the biggest games of the year, GameSpot UK is giving 100 people the chance to meet up and do battle in the game's multiplayer a week before release. The event will include a whole host of new modes and maps that weren't in the recent public beta.

Battlefield 3 offers huge maps, the latest weapons, and a wide array of vehicles for players to jump in and wreak havoc in the manner they've come to expect with the series. Following on from the hugely successful Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 will be released on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in the UK on October 28.

The evening event will take place on Friday, October 21, from 18:30 to 21:30 at a secret central London location. There will be 24 PlayStation 3s for you to get your hands on, as well as some nibbles to enjoy.

If you're available and can make it down to London, then simply leave a comment below, comment on our Facebook post, or email us at competitions@gamespot.co.uk with the subject "Battlefield 3." We'll draw 100 names and see the lucky winners on the night!

Also, please note that you must be over 18 to attend the event. Anyone under that age will not be admitted.

The MCM Expo is returning at the end of October, and GameSpot UK can confirm two more publishers joining our booth and stage show. Namco is bringing two of its biggest franchises to the GameSpot stand--SoulCalibur V and Ridge Racer Unbounded--while THQ will be showing off Saints Row: The Third on the GameSpot UK stage.

Check out the latest trailer for SoulCalibur V.

The fighter, which is due for release in the first quarter of 2012 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, will be available for you to go hands-on with at our booth. Members of the GameSpot team will also be available for some one-on-one matches, while a Namco expert will be on our stage to offer a rundown of the game, as well as answer your questions.

Ridge Racer Unbounded, Namco's latest entry in the series, will also be available to play at our booth. Unbounded introduces a focus on destruction and is developed by BugBear Entertainment, previously responsible for FlatOut.

Expect more hilarity from Saints Row: The Third when it appears on our stage show.

Over on our live stage, which is running from Friday to Sunday, THQ will be bringing Saints Row: The Third. Along with the chance to get hands-on with the game, there will be a Q&A with Volition's senior producer Greg Donovan and lead writer Drew Holmes. There will also be the chance to win a bunch of cool prizes in our Saints Row tournament, so stay tuned to GameSpot for details soon.

  • Child of Eden The Experience opens for business

Did you miss out on the cosplay-fueled fun that was the MCM Expo? Sad you didn't get your dose of free hugs? Angry that all your MCM-going friends got their hands on Child of Eden? While we aren't going to don a giant sword and give you a cuddle, Ubisoft's got you covered if you want to give Mizuguchi's latest psychedelic shooter a go.

gamingrigJonathan Ross gets to grips with Kinect.

The publisher has opened up The Child of Eden Experience in London's Soho, giving members of the public a chance to play Child of Eden in some suitably funky surroundings. Set over two floors, visitors can play the game in special booths equipped with big TVs, insanely loud sound systems, and a multitude of colored disco lights, all while being waited on hand and foot by Ubisoft lackeys.

We invited members of the GameSpot community down to the Experience last night, where we gave away an Xbox 360, Kinect, and a copy of the game to the person who got the highest score. The lucky winner was James World, who you can see looking rather pleased with himself in the photo to the right.

If you fancy yourself a spot of Kinect-powered action, The Child of Eden Experience is open from June 4 to June 17 from 12:00 to 20:00 daily at 34-35 Dean Street, London W1. Entry is free; just tell 'em GameSpot UK sent you. You can check out more photos from the event over on our Facebook gallery.

  • Child of Eden winners announced

Following a Child of Eden live stage demo at the MCM Expo, for which GameSpot UK is the exclusive video games partner, we ran a competition to win tickets to an exclusive hands-on event next week. At the event, which will take place on Thursday, June 2, in a central London "pop-up shop," winners will get their hands on the much anticipated psychedelic shooter from Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

The competition question was: For which platforms did Mizuguchi's Rez, to which Child of Eden is the spiritual successor, originally come out? The answer was the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2, and the winners are:

    Jonathan Winter

    Justin Passmore

    Chris Worthington

    Scott Sapsford

    Christian Cecchi

    Rustan Eltman

    Tim Samme

    James World

    Liam Comer

    Andrew Banting

    Dan Barbazette

    James Lovatt

Our lucky winners will each receive two tickets and will be contacted individually with details of the event. Catch the rest of the action from the London MCM Expo at mcm.gamespot.com.
