Bi-Lingual Game Master (English/Japanese)

Summary

Responsible for providing in-game customer support and enforcing game rules and policies for our online games while meeting department quality and productivity standards. Provide translation and coordination between support groups in different regions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In-Game Support:

  • Resolves in-game customer calls via proprietary tools
  • Resolve concerns including but not limited to inappropriate language, grief tactics, game errors, and game cheats & exploit issues through investigation of server records
  • Review and process disciplinary action on customer accounts in violation of the rules and policies governing our online games
  • Stay current on all elements of the project and community through the official website and other resources
  • Accurately and concisely document customer call history or disciplinary action through proprietary tools
  • Compile a daily report to the shift lead
  • Stay up to date with most current rules, policies, and procedures
  • Escalate issues to appropriate offices when necessary

Translation:

Senior Database Administrator

Summary

Responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the Square Enix Platform database infrastructure. Work as a member of the Technology team to ensure production-level database performance and availability. On call as needed to support any service incidents.

Requirements

  • An expert understanding of MySQL and other database technologies in a high volume gaming platform environment
  • Experience with Linux and e-commerce platform and online game services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish procedures for database security, backup replication recovery, and the use of database utilities
  • Design logical and physical databases and/or propose changes to physical/logical database designs

Product Manager - Marketing

Summary

The Product Manager is expected to manage the marketing of software in all areas of the product marketing.

  • Manage products through their entire lifecycle from early design phase through post-launch, managing the P&L; and brand plan
  • Work closely with Dept Director/VP on brand development and management. Assist in defining product features and direction, establishing long-term goals and brand metrics for success
  • Develop and implement strategic product position, define and set budgets with Dept Director/VP, create marketing plans, and collaborate for all other cross-functional teams to deliver a fully integrated product launch
  • Work closely with development teams on product positioning, features, enhancements, and timelines-utilizing market research and other analysis to aid in the development of existing brands and new products

  • Executes ideas for activities designed to increase player enthusiasm and focus on player subscription retention
  • Prepares reports of activities for review, negotiation, and approval. Creates graphics, screen shots, and back-up data to present concepts. Leads presentations interdepartmentally and via teleconference calls with Japanese office counterparts in order to review and assess the viability of a project. Prepares revisions and modifications as discussed and agreed upon. Prepares final presentations for discussion and approval by appropriate groups
  • Works with third party fan sites and provides new screen shots, new content and sets up interviews for incorporation into the web site in order to ensure continued interest in Square Enix products. Provide articles posted on forums posing reader questions and soliciting feedback. Interfaces with development team and provides game specific answers and responses

Operations Support Supervisor

Summary

Operation Support Supervisor supervises day-to-day activities of all Operation Support Agents and the Operation Support Translator. Provides staff with assistance and guidance as well as develops and implements initiatives targeting continuous performance and quality improvements.

  • Acts as a communicator between Japan, Europe, and US office to relay any information that impacts online or offline services

Merchandise Coordinator

Summary

Handles business communications and coordinates with merchandise distributors, retailers, and the Merchandise Department at Square Enix's Tokyo Office

Requirements

  • Demonstrated spoken and written Japanese-language skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adobe PhotoShop/Illustrator skills
  • Knowledge and high interest(s) in gaming, comic, and hobby genres area a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with distributors regarding new product offers and order collections
  • Relays information to necessary parties to produce and deliver products in a timely manner
  • Communicate with the Merchandise Department at Square Enix, Tokyo office to receive product assets, coordinate product logistics from Hong Kong, and discuss future product plans
  • Coordinate the creation(s) of merchandise product print ads and any other promotional materials
  • Participation in business and consumer events such as E3, San Diego Comic-Con, the New York Comic-con, the New York Toy Fair, and other events to showcase Square Enix merchandise

Education and/or Experience

  • Four year degree in marketing or communications from an accredited university is preferred but not required
  • High level of interpretation and translation English to Japanese/Japanese to English

Producer - F2P

Summary

The Producer - F2P will be responsible for all aspects of external production from managing teams to internal planning and communication throughout the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee development efforts on multiple projects keeping product development on schedule, within budget, and to specification
  • Collaborate with team leads, team members and management to establish realistic expectations for timelines, budgets and project deliverables
  • Facilitate and drive external and internal project team communication
  • Run meetings with the project team to discuss status, resolve issues and creatively propose win-win solutions when needed
  • Communicate with first parties and others
  • Review and provide production feedback on concepts, designs as well as competitive products.

Senior Cloud and MMO Gaming Engineer

Summary

This is the first and most senior position on a brand new engineering team at Square Enix America. Utilizes experience with high volume product lines on cloud services to make the right technology choices for Company's MMO, Free to Play and Mobile game titles. The person in this position comes in on the ground floor of large acquisition projects and engineers solutions that scale on demand, up to tens of millions of users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineering teams to design and build a complex ecosystem that hosts customer facing games and provides internal business critical features (from a computing menagerie that includes Server, Storage, Network, DB, Web, E-commerce, Security, CDN and Cloud technologies)
  • Recommend scalable solutions, both in-house and third party, and implement them transparently to current operations
  • Analyze the technical challenges behind new business partnerships and property acquisitions
  • Integrate new product lines securely and reliably into current architecture
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement cloud solutions and supporting technologies that automate capacity management and speedy provisioning
  • Plan and perform extensive pre-launch testing

Sr. Product Marketing Manager – MMO/PC Gaming Platforms

Summary

The Sr. Product Marketing Manager will focus on developing, producing, and marketing gaming experiences on MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) and PC Gaming platforms. This person is a platform expert inclusive of industry, consumer and competitive trends who develops marketing strategies and lead cross-functional teams to deliver marketing campaigns that drive game revenues through single download, subscription and free-to-play business models. Able to work with external agencies and our internal interactive marketing and PR teams to deliver community and content strategies; insuring timely execution of community development goals. Works closely with game producers and developers to impact game quality and consumer interaction with marketing messages within game-play. Lastly, as the primary point of contact to outside platform partners, insures communications, understands partner goals, execution of joint objectives and partner satisfaction to secure best possible exposure for titles and participation in all relevant partner programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing strategies within the MMO and PC gaming (Steam, Valve, Direct to Drive/Gamefly, Impulse, Amazon) space
  • Perform strategic analysis using all available sources of information (consumer & competitive insights, research data, industry sources), to support the decision-making process and strategic direction of the marketing department. Review proposed titles suggested by Business Development or other departments for marketing feasibility and determining support levels
  • Develop and optimize sales of single download games and micro-transactions of downloadable content that adds value to game play. Develop pricing promotions, campaigns, and other advertising vehicles; working with sales to insure timely pricing submissions
  • Develop and manage asset library for assigned titles. Oversee creation and delivery of assets (trailers, screen shots, logos, etc.) by working with internal departments and external vendors as required. Deliver assets to internal partner organizations and external partners when necessary
  • Recommend optimal investment of company resources in content, technology and platforms. Work collaboratively with Business Development team to procure IP for the company
  • Manage and optimize marketing budgets. Help analyst forecast by providing industry and product insights and estimates

Education and/or Experience

  • Business or Marketing degree required. An emphasis on new media and/or MBA a plus
  • Minimum four years work experience in digital distribution and online sales and marketing and/or development and publishing of free-to-play, micro-transactions based games
  • Demonstrated experience bringing the "voice of the customer" to life through primary and secondary research
  • Minimum 10 years experience in defining, evaluating, and defending ROI of marketing initiatives
  • Thorough understanding of the evolution of online marketing technologies and strategies
  • Strong capabilities with Excel including macros, pivot tables, vlookups, charts and graphs
  • Strong modeling and forecasting skills, including practical experience of relevant algorithms preferred
