Office 365 in the real world

The Devil, and much of the goodness, is in the detail

On the 3rd May at 11am BST The Register’s Lucy Sheriff is joined by Julian Elve, of The Schools Network, to talk about his recent Office 365 migration.

Julian’s responsible for an environment that you might classify as ‘normal’ enough for generic SaaS services and distributed enough to see serious benefits from cloud based deployment. But with an existing systems landscape that dictates a conscious approach to evaluation, planning, migration and integration.

We thought that would make him an interesting man to talk to about these matters. He’s joined by Dale Vile from Freeform Dynamics and Tim Crunden from Perspicuity – the CTO of the firm that helped Julian with the migration job.

Between the four of them, they’ll give you a run through precisely what it takes to move your business productivity apps to the cloud. They’ll start by tackling the, ‘why cloud’ and, ‘why Office 365’ questions, and then quickly dig into the objectives, the problems of reaching them, why they chose a partner to help, how they divvied up the jobs and, finally, a run through the implementation project itself – what went right, what went wrong and what they’d do differently next time.

For any of you considering Office 365, or thinking about shifting some critical apps into the cloud, this should be just the fillip. The broadcast is all live so that you can ask questions or offer advice too. You can join us right here.
