hi every one I am new here

The story was great how is it weak, i guess no one likes a story in mindless killing floor

honestly all my favorite games deserve a 10/10. i dont care. also gamespot keeps getting the score wrong on my favorites. im starting to think gamespot is biased

9.0 awesome game and how did they say the story was weak? i thought the story was great.

 carnivalshow it totally deserves more than a 7.5 i have a hard time putting this game down the pack leader powers are amazing

how can u not compare this to the previous game and then show images from it?

Lol he didn't even talk about the story. The 1st one turned me off to this franchise.

It is a great game I go off track and just kill people and tanks or the freaky monster things and go off quests . I have not rated the game yet because i have not beat it tho an 7.5 is low for how much fun i think the game is. It is the way i hoped the last gta should of been so much fun being a god of the city and just attacking people and monsters in a really bloody fashion.

My gf enjoys the game for the combat and powers though even she notices the crappy target system, lack of powers compared to first one, and of course the annoying enter this action command in the middle of your combo, or great u tapped this action command but it didn't do anything, honestly I think this game is just a paint over job of the last one. Just my opinion but 7.5? I'd say your being a tad generous hm?

What I liked the most about Prototype was being overpowered, good thing that was kept here, being able to destory entire armies with lots of soldiers, tanks and helicopter was awesome... but yeah, games meant just to be fun are criticised for not challenging the player, good thing I know how to enjoy a fun game.

 When a game provides this level of fun, an 8.0 score is the least you can give it IMO.

It's great to see a game that is so ridiculously over the top (and with no other real positives) that it is fun to play.

@PS3BigFan Funny you should mention that but In Infamous 2 it was Tom Mc Shea that gave it a 7.5 Opposing to other sites and now he rated Prototype 2 another 7.5...I am not saying something here it just seems a funny coincidence that's all

Prototype 1 got 8.5 and Prototype 2 got 7.5, fair enough. Infamous 1 got 9.0 and Infamous 2 got 7.5, maybe they were expecting more from such good game don't you think? I have Infamous 1 and 2, and I have Prototype 1 and 2. I played Infamous a couple of times, but I never stopped playing Prototype, so, that must mean something too.

@dalua360 Actually you're wrong! Infamous 2 improved a lot over the original. It's exactly the same way how Assassin's Creed 2 was 100 times better than the original. Yet the first Infamous game got 9/10. I played both games and Infamous 2 is 10 times more fun, better story, better control, superior powers, destructible parts of the buildings in the city, shocking and epic endings, should I say more. IGN gave it 9/10, Metacritic 83/100, GameRankings 84/100, GameSpy 9/10.

@PS3BigFan It's easy and simple.... inFAMOUS 2 as an exclusive that it is, has the obligation to deliver nothing less than perfection, so the expectations behind inFAMOUS 2 were huge and the developer didn't deliver. In other hand, Prototype 2 just needed to maintain the baseline from the first one, easy job.....

Definite improvement over the first game. It's taking a while to get used to the switch up controls, though. Heller moves a bit slower than Mercer from what I've played so far. Love the black & white art style of the cutscenes. Very nice touch.

Of course as usual low rating by GS. Game is totally immersive and targeted for specific players that appreciate chaos. So if you're not that type player then don't rate this game.

@dalua360 I don't care about graphics however Graphics of any game is one of the parameter that give the final score for any game. My point was that GameSpot really hate any PS3 exclusive and always give them less than what they deserve. Infamous 2 is superhero sandbox game, it's challenging unlike Prototype 2 and has a better graphics. So how can both games get the same score. Just watch the review of Infamous 2 which has been made by the same reviewer here and you'll understand what I'm saying. He keeps complaining about the game (it's bad, the camera sucks, not as good as the first one,..etc) while in this review he kept saying it's a good game.

This game is for casual gamers IMO. The developers went for gameplay over graphics. similar to the first game and the mission structure is similar to the Hulk game developed by the same studio. i think?

I like being overpowerd and enjoying the content :)

@MasterOfSprites Of course, you'll always be able to find someone who dislikes something. The scores say that you are in the minority, however.

Did anyone else think the first game in the series was also pretty mediocre?

@Marky360 You misinterpreted my comment. I haven't even said that easy games must be hated. Not even close. I love games that are easy and fun. But making the game industry nothing more than easy and fun only, it won't make things better but only worse. What i said that there are gaming that simply have to be challenging. Challenging can be fun. How many games nowadays help you in real life? How many games teach real life soldiers or police officers? Surely they don't achieve that by simply being easy and fun. Sure a game that is not fun isn't even a game. But fun is more than just pushing a button and get through levels like it's nothing. Where we are now, with this virtual dependency that people have and with the technology sucking our brain every minute, challenging games are the best tool for brain reconstruction i believe. You may thing it's weird but people now don't use their brains at all, and games are more valuable than classes sometimes. They make you think, adapt and react to certain obstacles using your mind to solve riddles or to take down an enemy by strategically positioning your troops or wisely choosing your weapons. AGAIN IM NOT saying that this is what all game must be about. i'm just sayin it's wrong to throw away entirely games just because their challenging. They should be. But as always a balance must be considered between fun and challenge.

@Gelugon_baat Wow kid I think you've gone a bit far I don't want Tom fired I just have a difference of opinion on the game then he did and wanted to voice that opinion I would say that it's you that has taken this whole thing to far I mean you act as if I hated Tom and all his reviews and wanted gamespot to cut his head off lol dude it ain't that big a deal I suggest you taken a chill pill and calm down.

@Gelugon_baat I really don't have to look elsewhere to see Toms opinion on the game as the review is in of itself an opinion. If his views of the game differ from video to video then I truly question his credibility as a reviewer.

Really? The Tom McShea who demo'ed this game in an episode of On the Spot, had a Twitch.tv live stream for Prototype 2 and talked about how well the game achieved its product aims in a HotSpot episode?

I am getting the impression that you aren't looking beyond this review to identify his feelings about this game - a review that is the result of , I should remind you.

So the complaint that you have about this review is really about the reviewer instead of the game's review, isn't it?

I consider this even pettier than a fan complaining about scores. You could have just condense all that you posted earlier to just one phrase: "Fire Tom McShea, because I don't like him."

I would tell you that if you want to have Tom McShea's job taken away, you complain to Customer Support. Not only does GameSpot's administration gets that complaint, but their paymasters at CBS does too. Either that, or send a letter to CBS. B*tching here won't do anything.

If this game is an indie game, then I would somewhat empathize with you, but I won't because it's a AAA game, the production of which was ordered by the developers' corporate masters.

They make whichever games that they are ordered, and their corporate masters wouldn't give a damn about what reviewers like Tom McShea says.

I welcome all inFamous challengers. Bring it. I want another great comic book hero/anti-hero sandbox video game. But not this crap.

A waste of a good premise. This series was a fail since the first, but they're obviously catering to the kiddies.

You could side with alex mercer or kill him but black watch will no doubt kill hellers daughter as result not obaying orders. Mercer realizes your still a dog stuck to chain and enters every blackwatch head quarters killing every mother @#$$% thing in he's path trying to find your daugher. Later on, alex finds her turning every emotion towards heller, after being brain washed by mercers indoctrination as solution to manipulate heller and consume him. But hellers daughters genetic mutation plaguing newyork city as first test subject similar to how alma was in fear 2. Now that's prototype 2 well should be any way.

Between then alex mercer becomes wounded when blackwatch disperse some unusual pathegen in mid air all around mercer wounding and draining him of powers, dana mercer instantly runs towards alex mercer she slowly explaining how she feels as bullets pass right thru her and a slight tear drops from her face dying near alex. so enraged at blackwatch alex raises both arms and slices everything around dana. blackwatch then woke up prototype 2 kept in stasis for 5 years. Afterwards from release blackwatch come to conclusion that hellers the real abomination and must be stopped at all costs while alex mercer sides with the military soldiers infected with pathegen that's slowly killing him. Between then blackwatch now know hellers the "threat" demanding him to do orders or he's daughter dies. not acknowledging to act on order results in hellers story changing on impact.

Let's rewrite prototype universe and continue from prototype 1. Let's begin with Alex mercer angry towards black-watch trying so hard to destroy them. let's make sargent heller the prototype within blackwatch the dark infected in stasis ready for release.... ready for everything.

I'm gonna give (radical entertainment) some advise on story. while story's bloody same also locations even the same well this game sucks full stop. it's infact generic factor for younger audience. The storys poorly implemented. while alex mercer might be the antagonist to vengeful heller, it doesn't actually explain why sargent heller was chosen to begin with apart from the fact that he was called back from duty to see he's wife and daughter. infact it's poorly collaberated.

ugh....cargo missions are my new nightmare....
