Minecraft Xbox 360 sells 1 million
Open-world Xbox Live game goes platinum in first five days; 5.2 million hours spent mining, 4 million multiplayer sessions recorded thus far.
Minecraft for the Xbox 360 was a breakout success. Microsoft announced today that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold more than 1 million copies since it launched May 9. This follows news from Minecraft creator Markus Persson last week that revealed the game sold 400,000 copies in its first 24 hours, becoming profitable in just one hour.
On top of announcing sales for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, Microsoft parsed additional statistics regarding the $20 (1,600 MS points) downloadable game. More than 5.2 million total hours have been spent mining, 4 million total multiplayer sessions have been logged, and more than 2.4 million multiplayer hours have been recorded.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was developed by 4J Studios, the Scotland-based shop that built Xbox Live Arcade titles Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, and Banjo-Tooie. The game will add Kinect support at a later date via a patch and was the last title in Microsoft's Arcade Next promotion, which also saw the release of Trials Evolution, Bloodforge, and Fable Heroes.

The crafting on PC is perfectly fine. It keeps it open for modded items. If you have the menu like 360, modded items would be much more difficult to implement. The PC version is far and beyond the minecraft you guys are playing on 360. I live in a jungle. Which has cats. I can train a cat to follow me around by feeding it fish :3 When I kill an enemy I earn XP and level up. I create an enchanting table to enchant weapons and tools. I have a diamond pickaxe with "Efficiency III" and it mines as fast as gold. I can brew HP potions and such to help me out. I don't think you can find nether fortresses. So that means the nether on Xbox is useless still. I can enchant my armor to have certain advantages, I can also change how minecraft looks. XBOX players get to see pixels, but I see a smooth landscape thanks to LB Photo Realism x286. Minecraft on xbox needs Enchanting at the least. And the dragon. If they can't get the dragon in there then players will eventually get bored. And the enchanting tables add to the replayability. The quicker access you have to mining and gaining materials the more people will want to play. And the PC version rewards many hours of dedicated , slow, gameplay. With high quality enchanted items that work better than usual. The xbox version is okay. But they should really consider what they add before they leave something out. If anything, figure out how to control the mob spawning. It's absolutely ridiculous at night.
they really need to bring the 360 crafting to the PC version. it makes the PC version sad. On the PC version, there's an awful lot of unnecessary clicking and an awful lot of placing the items just right in the crafting area to get anything. Like literally lining up the items so that it looks like a pickaxe to make a pickaxe.In the 360 version, you just have enough resources and bam, you have the object made.
minecraft on pc is like freaken epic as hell, and on xbox 360 is orgasmic epic :DD

I never played Minecraft on PC, but decided to give the 360 version a chance and i freaking love it. Its great to play with my friends on 360 and the game controls very well. I'm also pretty addicted to it, its like playing with lego's. Can't wait to see updates. Also never played on PC because i dont really PC game very much on my laptop,not sure how MC would have run. Only game i have is Morrowind on my laptop.
To me this is just another million media hyped up suckers. Ever since Ive heard of this game Ive never even been tempted to look at it let alone play it.

Now if they hadn't bothered with the other three games in arcade next, we could have had this game sooner and M$ a closer uber payday.
Now they just need to get it upto version 1.8, like it's PC counter part.
Just another sign that Microsoft is giving the players what they want. Sadly, we can't say the same for other consoles.
Its funny, when i played it on PC, it was a much older version... And playing it on Xbox is like an update for me. So thats the best case scenario. I understand pc users not seeing anything to jump after in this version, other than co-op.

4J have said they want to bring it up to version 1.7.3 with the next update.
I can't imagine playing the 360 version over the PC version. I very much adore Minecraft, I just can't see it being worth it on 360. That said, congratulations to the team for making a success! A big turn-on for PC players would be the promise of frequent updates to keep it competitive with the PC version.
FarmFreshDX The easy-access multiplayer makes it completely worth it. Also, 4J translated the controls perfectly. I really hate PC elitists who don't even give consoles a chance.

FarmFreshDX The game world generation is exactly as PC version 1.6.6. I loaded up my 1.6.6 jar and used matching seeds and the worlds were exactly the same. right down to the blades of grass.
Also, they have stated there are going to be several updates to get the game up to the PC.
FarmFreshDX you can imagine after you try it out. one button press versus 7+ mouse clicks just to make a pickaxe? yessss...

StJimmy15 ppl liked minecraft so much that they bought it for the xbox360. some without even playing the trial. 1 million sales is not the same as 1 million ppl liking the game. i had high hopes for it, but it was very much more difficult to control and the inventory and crafting windows are indeed more complex. that and it insults u by thinking it has to tell u everything about itself even know u turn off the help.

Lazerith91 dude there is no hatred going on on my end aight? and it is true about most ppl flatout buying the game b4 getting the trial, because most of my 50 friends bought and b4 the trial and ended up not liking it just because its harder to control. all these are facts that lead me to believe that at least %75 of the minecraft players bought b4 they got the trial. i love the game, and i love the fact that it is on the xbox version now.. and just because a game sells a lot does not make it a good game. Legojake94 i totally call BS on this one. crafting and inventory management on the 360 version is so much easier. you just collect enough resources to build whatever you want and just make it. 1 button press instead of 7+ clicks to make a pickaxe.

Until I see some more out of this version, I'm going to stick with the PC version.
It is a good game. Although I am going to wait a little before purchasing, I feel it is not worth the full $20.

its still in beta version. i believe they port MC beta 1.67(?) from the PC.

Nice to see Indy Games getting some Love, you'll return to your 360 game after this comercial lol.
I'd get this, but I don't really have the time for it at the moment. It's nice to have the option to pick this up on XBLA sometime down the trac though.
