Among performers, Cloris Leachman is the all-time champ with eight prime-time Emmy Awards. She began her record run in 1973 when she prevailed as Best Telefilm Actress ("A Brand New Life"). Since then, Leachman has shown what a utility player she is, winning an additional seven times across six other categories. For her work on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," she first won Supporting Comedy Actress in 1974 and then Single Performance by a Supporting Comedy or Drama Actress in 1975. That year Leachman also took home Continuing or Single Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Variety Show for a guest spot on "Cher." She won Individual Performance in a Variety Program in 1984 for "Screen Actors Guild 50th Anniversary Celebration." More recently, she won Guest Drama Actress ("Promised Land," 1998) and Guest Comedy Actress ("Malcolm in the Middle," 2002, 2006). And if you include the Daytime Emmy Leachman won in 1983 for her performance in the children's drama "The Woman Who Willed a Miracle," her tally is a staggering nine statues.
