May 19 is Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Battle Day
Nintendo has dubbed May 19 Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Battle Day. The designation has been set so the game’s fanbase can organize its own multiplayer tournaments, meetups and social gatherings for the title using Meetup Everywhere. Using broadband or local wireless, players can compete in multiplayer modes ranging from three-on-three Light versus Dark mode or six-player Free-for-All mode. The 20 groups with the most participants will receive special Kid Icarus: Uprising premium items such as AR Card packs and T-shirts, while supplies last. Those interested in a Kid Icarus: Uprising multiplayer event using Meetup Everywhere should click here to find events in their area or to plan their own meetups.

Monolith Software developing Project X Zone
Famitsu’s confirmed this week the developer for Project X Zone is Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft. The Namco, Sega and Capcom crossover launches in Japan for 3DS later this year.

Mario Kart 7 update released, culls shortcut exploits
As promised, Nintendo has released a patch for Mario Kart 7 which nixes the shortcut exploits contained in Wuhu Island Loop, Wuhu Mountain Loop and GBA Bowser Castle 1. In order to receive the patch, you’ll need to install the latest 3DS system update which will also allow you to continue playing online. Offline mode is still available without the patch.

Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro to release through eShop
Nintendo has announced two downloadable Pokémon titles are releasing this fall on the eShop for Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro. According to Nintendo, both titles will help “expand the overall experience,” for those planning to purchase Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

Sonic Labyrinth headed to 3DS eShop
Game Gear classic Sonic Labyrinth is due for release on the Japanese 3DS eShop on May 16, according to Siliconera. The unusual isometric title will go for ¥300. No word from Sega regarding a western release but it doesn’t seem too far fetched; it’s one of a small number of releases from the ill-fated Sega portable to begin trickling onto Ninty’s latest.

Kingdom Hearts 3D demo to release in North America
A demo for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be released North America, according to director Tetsuya Nomura. Speaking with Famitsu, Nomura confirmed the demo will include the Sora scenario Traverse Town which is currently the demo available in Japan. A date for the demo wan’t noted. US Kingdom Hearts 3D pre-order bonuses include three AR cards
Square has announced North American pre-order incentives for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. While supplies last, pre-order customers will acquire three augmented reality cards which unlock Dream Eaters and a 360° viewing stand. One wild AR card will randomly unlock one of the three rare Dream Eaters: Ursa Circus, Sudo Neku or Meowjesty. The second AR card unlocks R&R Seal Dream Eater, and the last AR card unlocks the 360° viewing stand. The game releases in North America on July 31.

Nintendo to wrap up 3D TV service in Japan next month
Nintendo’s announced it’s to finish its 3D TV service for 3DS in Japan next month. Itsu no Ma ni Terebi featured two minute 3D clips that were free and exclusive to the handheld, but Nintendo has said it will now come to an end of June 20. It will continue to distribute clips from other networks for 3DS, though.

Mario Party 9 and 3DS top Japanese charts during Golden Week
Media Create has released its weekly retail chart for Japan, and Golden Week was indeed golden for Nintendo with Mario Party 9 topping software with 144,585 units moved. It didn’t end there, though: 15 out of 20 titles on the software chart were for Nintendo systems, with 3DS still tops in hardware and Wii outselling PS Vita by 5,206 units.
