Minecraft Xbox Edition doesn’t support local multiplayer for SD TVs
Kotaku reports some Minecraft fans have been disappointed to discover the Xbox 360 Edition doesn’t support split-screen play on standard definition tellies; port developer 4J Studios has confirmed you’ll need an HD cable and display. Minecraft’s not exactly visually demanding so it seems a bit odd, but there you go: if you’re fronting a CRT and looking for some couch-buddy good times, save your 1600 MS Points.

Operation Silencer is your next Mass Effect 3 multiplayer event
BioWare has announced the next Mass Effect 3 Bounty Weekend will be Operation Silencer. Players will be tasked with dropping 3 million banshees between May 11 and May 14. If the goal is reached, those who participated will be handed a Victory Pack filled with unspecified goodies. Should a squad perform a full extraction against the enemy on Gold difficulty, they will net a Commendation Pack. So far, 22.84 million multiplayer matches have taken place in the game, according to the firm, out of which only 10.5 million successful extractions occurred. Retailers list Hitman: Absolution for September release
Various UK retailers are hosting place holders Hitman: Absolution, pegging it for September release – although one retailer doesn’t agree on the date. Zavi and HotUKDeals have all three versions landing on September 17, which is a Monday, while ShopTo has September 24 down as a place holder – which is also a Monday. Square has yet to announce a release window for the title, but it has been expected to land sometime in the fall for quite some time. Thanks, MCV.

Mario Party 9 and 3DS top Japanese charts during Golden Week
Media Create has released its weekly retail chart for Japan, and Golden Week was indeed golden for Nintendo with Mario Party 9 topping software with 144,585 units moved. It didn’t end there, though: 15 out of 20 titles on the software chart were for Nintendo systems, with 3DS still tops in hardware and Wii outselling PS Vita by 5,206 units.

Majesco to show new Zumba Fitness, Kinect-exclusive NBA Baller Beats at E3
Majesco will be bringing its Kinect exclusive NBA Baller Beats, and its next iteration of its 6 million worldwide-seller, Zumba Fitness, to E3 this year. The former is a basketball game where players use a real basketball as they train alongside unlockable NBA franchises. In the background plays a “diverse soundtrack,” with 100 unlockable posters and training card as well as difficulty levels which will guide you in your quest to become “the ultimat e-baller.” More information on both titles will be releases in June.
