Croteam’s confirmed it’s still workin on Serious Sam 3 for a release on Xbox 360 following the launch of the PC version earlier in the year, but fans are in for a wait at least.

Capcom’s announced this morning its shipped 2 million units worldwide of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. The Slant Six shooter launched at the end of March in the west and the end of April in Japan, but was critically slammed, hitting 52 on MetaCritic on both PS3 and 360.

The Q2 lull is over, financials season is in full swing and E3 2012 is alarmingly close. It’s time to take a look over the major players and see what the year ahead holds, starting with the effervescent EA.

EA has released a new opt-in beta for Origin. Some fine-tuning in the latest version will lower the client’s tendency to hog your system, and also ease the cumbersome DLC download process. It also allows you to display your real name via a tool-tip, so go ahead and disable that if you’re afraid of being outed as that twit who rage quits two rounds into a Mass Effect 3 match. BioWare has announced the next Mass Effect 3 Bounty Weekend will be Operation Silencer. Players will be tasked with dropping 3 million banshees between May 11 and May 14. If the goal is reached, those who participated will be handed a Victory Pack filled with unspecified goodies. Should a squad perform a full extraction against the enemy on Gold difficulty, they will net a Commendation Pack. So far, 22.84 million multiplayer matches have taken place in the game, according to the firm, out of which only 10.5 million successful extractions occurred. On Gold difficulty, only 3.5% were successful extractions. Thanks, GamesRadar.

Camouflaj has released a new video for Republique on its Kickstarter page. The video basically outlines how to play the game, and it’s posted below. The project only has another 50 hours to go before the funding round ends, and only $320,680 has been donated towards the firm’s $500,000 goal.

Three domain registries filed by EA suggest the firm is in the process of bringing SimCity to Facebook. The domains SimCitySocial.com, SimCity-Social.com and SimCityFacebook.com were renewed back in September, and SimsVIP reports that the Playfish SimCity Social URL “http://apps.facebook.com/simcitysocial/” pops up in Google Cache if you stop the link from loading before being redirected to Facebook. This is likely the game EA mentioned was in the works from Maxis during its call to investors on Monday. Thanks, Joystiq.

The third and final video in the Behind the Mask series for Darksiders II has been released. It focuses on the game’s storyline. Watch it below courtesy of Gamespot. Darksiders 2 is expected on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in August, with a Wii U version in the cards as well.

Various UK retailers are hosting place holders Hitman: Absolution, pegging it for September release – although one retailer doesn’t agree on the date. Zavi and HotUKDeals have all three versions landing on September 17, which is a Monday, while ShopTo has September 24 down as a place holder – which is also a Monday. Square has yet to announce a release window for the title, but it has been expected to land sometime in the fall for quite some time. Thanks, MCV.
