Letter: Bumpy road ahead

Posted: May 6, 2012 - 6:31pm

As the progressive left faces catastrophic defeat in November, we see unfolding the most divisive presidential campaign in American history. Once respected pundits like Chris Matthews and Lawrence O’Donnell, of MSNBC, have dispensed with all pretence of objectivity and have shamelessly become mouthpieces for the President Obama’s progressive movement as they desperately seek to subvert mainstream American values.

An evil man once said, “The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.” Thus this alien strain of progressive thought has infected the body politic of the once great Democratic Party.

The broad spectrum of the American people instinctively reject this reptilian vision hoisted upon them by Obama.

Are you better off than you were $4 trillion ago? Is anything better off with the ascendence of the Obama administration? I think not.

With the failure of the progressive agenda, the only hope for Obama to retain the presidency is to lie. It’s going to be a bumpy election this November.

GREGORY H. BONTRAGER, HUTCHINSON

What a stupid letter

Not because i side with the Democrat party. The letter is poorly written by a ignorant Republican voter who has no idea what's going on in this country.

Someone needs to ask the letter writer if he's better off now than he was $11 trillion ago.

Just as you remember that

Just as you remember that Obama has contributed around $4 trillion of that $11. And all we got to show for it is a T-shirt.

"The broad spectrum of the American people instinctively reject this reptilian vision- hoisted upon them by Obama."

What on God's green earth does this even mean? Is this some sort of euphemism that only makes sense to fellow psychotics?

Greg, Man I feel for You.

The left is a ornery group, they take from what you say and they call you names. I won't do that because there is enough blame to go around for all parties. We can go back to the 1900's when Teddy Roosevelt started the PROGRESSIVE party because he didn't' get his way in the Republican party. Then there was Wilson, who hated blacks, and tried to remove them from the armed services, then Roosevelt #2 who inadvertently started the mess we're in today, Social Security which has morphed from a forced savings account that paid no interest to what it is today: Medicare, Medicaid, Disability, etc. Then there was that master of disguise LBJ who while he was butchering the word niggrah's when he delivered his "war on poverty" garbage that is not working, started the whole social mess, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Then there was Jimmy Peanut who opened the Social Security Trust Fund in order to pay for more social programs that don't work and to try to balance the budget which made the SS program essentially broke in 2019. Then we have Georgey Bush who got us into the mess in Iraq and lost a bunch of innocent american lives. Then we have Obama who has increased the Federal debt by $4 Trillion in THREE years while it took 60 years to get it to $11 Trillion, $1 Trillion of it under GWB.

Greg, don't worry. You cannot make people with mush for brains understand the consequences of actions. They think that the Government can do no wrong as long as there is a Democrat in office. I hate to tell them, but BOTH parties have got us into this mess and to hold either party feet to the fire as long as we get out of this mess should be the reason to pull together. Hey folks, come up with solutions instead of practicing personal destruction.

Um, under GWB the debt increased $5 trillion. Don't try to spin it. No one will believe you especially when the debt figures by year are all over the internet.

The Federal debt was roughly $1 trillion in 1980. It only took 32 years for the debt to balloon to over $15 trillion under Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, and Obama.

REALLY??

(CBS News) The National Debt has now increased more during President Obama's three years and two months in office than it did during 8 years of the George W. Bush presidency.

The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.

The latest posting from the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department shows the National Debt now stands at $15.566 trillion. It was $10.626 trillion on President Bush's last day in office, which coincided with President Obama's first day.

The National Debt also now exceeds 100% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, the total value of goods and services.

Mr. Obama has been quick to blame his predecessor for the soaring Debt, saying Mr. Bush paid for two wars and a Medicare prescription drug program with borrowed funds.

The federal budget sent to Congress last month by Mr. Obama, projects the National Debt will continue to rise as far as the eye can see. The budget shows the Debt hitting $16.3 trillion in 2012, $17.5 trillion in 2013 and $25.9 trillion in 2022.

Federal budget records show the National Debt once topped 121% of GDP at the end of World War II. The Debt that year, 1946, was, by today's standards, a mere $270 billion dollars.

Mr. Obama doesn't mention the National Debt much, though he does want to be seen trying to reduce the annual budget deficit, though it's topped a trillion dollars for four years now.

As part of his "Win the Future" program, Mr. Obama called for "taking responsibility for our deficits, by cutting wasteful, excessive spending wherever we find it."

His latest budget projects a $1.3 trillion deficit this year declining to $901 billion in 2012, and then annual deficits in the range of $500 billion to $700 billion in the 10 years to come.

If Mr. Obama wins re-election, and his budget projections prove accurate, the National Debt will top $20 trillion in 2016, the final year of his second term. That would mean the Debt increased by 87 percent, or $9.34 trillion, during his two terms.

Everyone

Regardless of who is President or which political party has the majority, do you really think anything will change? Do you really think politicians in either party really give a cr#p about their constituents? They are all millionaires who only care about themselves. They could care less about this country!!

OK vent, since you insist.

The French Elections: Off With King Sarko's Head

"He posed in spectacular grandeur as the neo-imperial Liberator of Libya - only a few years after Colonel Muammar Gaddafi helped finance his 2007 election campaign with a cool US$65 million.

King Sarko, predictably, denied everything and said he would sue the French website, Mediapart, that revealed what many already knew. Yet this Thursday, former Libyan prime minister Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi confirmed it all over again. And that's exactly what Gaddafi's son and former darling of the London School of Economics, Saif al-Islam, had said in March 2011: "Sarkozy must give back the money he accepted from Libya to finance his presidential campaign."

We get it already. Republicans in Kansas hate all things Obama..

...just like every other year, your party will stand with the party over all else and say anything, true or untrue, to try to discredit him and vote against your own interests. You've done it for years. Why change now. It's expected of you in every election...

Sure looks that way,, Even for Republicans that voted for Obama.

But Even more disturbing should be Democrats that aren't voting for him either.

GOOD NITE!
