Tornadoes and hail, or serious threats those calamities might occur, have been dominating the weather news this spring, so much so that many Topekans probably were unaware before looking at Monday’s newspaper that the day was the fifth anniversary of flooding along the Shunganunga Creek in south Topeka.
Residents who were forced to flee their homes and those who assisted them likely were aware of the date’s significance, but many of us, not so much. Most residents who lived in Topeka in 2007 remember the flood, of course, but would have been hard pressed to give the exact day.
