Reading all of the hater posts makes me wonder if pitchers like Drysdale, Nolan Ryan, Gibson and the like all belong in the HOF. They did far worse than Hamels did. When Gibson threw one through a batter's earhole he was just "backing them off the plate". And I'm sure Ryan never "welcomed" a rook into the league.

That's baseball.... Harper handled it perfectly and so did the Nats by plunking Hamels. In my opinion both hit batters were warranted and done properly.. Lower body, hip, buttocks...no Head hunting.
Hamel's knew he was getting plunked (rightfully deserved) and he took it like a man....Tha's baseball.
Hamel's biggest error was the interview.

You know, obviously no one wants anyone to get hurt and he did not throw it high inside at his head, squarely in the lower back and not exactly a blazing fastball. have to respect him for admitting it and talking about old school baseball. Funny though guy like Harper whom is demonstrating hustling like players should gets plopped for being the kid phenom, Kudos to both Harper and Hammel. (Harper gets last laugh with steal of home)

Hitting someone . . . intentionally . . . is bad enough . . . but to mouth off and brag about it afterwards is just plain stupid.

Hitting a player purposely?! Sure it happens all the time and it's one of the most stupid, childish, immature and dangerous things a pitcher can do. All a batter has to do is move the wrong way to avoid getting hit and they can be permanently injured, or worse. I have no respect at all for professional babies, er athletes in the first place, but when they act like 14 year olds, that drops the bar even lower. I give Hamels a molecule of credit for admitting it when no one else would. They are still greedy little children in my opinion.

Hitting batters is part of the game for certain reasons!! U never admit it and certainly don't do it out of pure jealousy! Cowerdly! 5 games is only 1 for a pitcher.
