So, welcome to post number two on Media UK's new blog - or post #2 if we were American (which we're not). Post number one was all about us; post number two is all about other people, because we do an inordinate amount of trawling through the internet in search of interesting things to read, just for you.

Paul Easton posts about Jack FM Oxfordshire's breakfast show, which last week came from Afghanistan. I found the week's programmes managed to convey a strong sense of what life must be like for the troops on active service in Afghanistan and produced some compelling radio said Paul, who's heard a fair amount of compelling radio during his time in the business.

Radio producer James Stodd interviews one of the biggest names of New York radio, the breakfast host of 1010 WINS, Lee Harris, in a well-produced video on his site. Lee tells us the story behind the tagline for the station ("You give us 22 minutes, and we'll give you the world"), and his experience broadcasting through 9/11; turns out he achieved a world first.

Radio consultant Mark Ramsey points out that simply adding a radio app to a mobile phone isn't enough. He points out that everything on a mobile phone is designed for things that require interaction: and that just adding an app which lets you listen to an online stream, in a non-interactive way, isn't a good enough experience in comparison.
