Hola.
This is a club.
And you're invited.
It's a film club to be exact.
And our purpose here is to watch all of the films on AFI's 100 Years 100 Movies List.
It's one of the more epic endeavors on my Mighty Life List, and in the process of creating this post for tracking purposes, I thought.. hey... why not make a club out of this one? Some of these movies are probably going to be a little more tough and dull to get through, and I'm thinking it would be nice for some of you fine folks to hold my hand in such instances. Similarily, I'm expecting some of these films to be absolutely brilliant (hence their existence on such a list) and would be delighted to celebrate and exchange thoughts with you on each one.
Here's how it will work.
I've set up a little fishy bowl filled with all 100 films (minus the 15 or so that I have already seen).
AFI FISHY BOWL.
I'll be sure to send out a tweet every Monday morning announcing the film of the week and also the film on deck. It will also always be highlighted here on this page every week.
Mondays are also the days in which I invite you to comment and share your thoughts here on the previous week's film. This could really be an awesome discussion board for all your opinions and I really really hope that you participate!
And I know you will. Because come on....let's be real here. This a pretty cool club. And it's going to be lots of fun.
Here's how to become an official member of Punky's AFI Film Club:
1. Download & Print AFI's 100 Years 100 Movies List... just to have for your own safe-keeping/tracking.
2. Follow me on Twitter
3. Compose a tweet that you've joined Punky's AFI Film Club. In that tweet, be sure to link back to this page, as well as mention @punkyandthecity, so that I see the tweet.
I will then add you and your blog name & link (if you have one) to the Members List below. And THAT'S IT. You're in. Feel free to grab a Punky's Film Club button if you'd like (coming soon). And though, I do hope you'll watch all of these films with me, you can really be picky and choosy if you'd like... being a member doesn't mean you have to watch each one (or even comment at all). Obviously, there will be ones in which you've already seen, in such cases, feel free to share your already existing thoughts, or watch it again! Or.. just wait until next week's draw. Whatevs you wanna do, kids.
