When the Legislature failed to finalize redistricting maps for the state, or make a final decision on the “gut and go” legislation that would speed up the implementation of the proof of citizenship requirement for the right to vote, it put Kansas’ county clerks and election commissioners in a race against time.
New district maps can’t be printed until after a review by the Kansas Supreme Court. If the “gut and go” legislation is passed, implementation will need to be complete before the primary.
