News & Updates
Nintendo Direct 04/12
21 Apr 2012
As we await the Nintendo news maelstrom that is E3, Nintendo has prepared a new Nintendo Direct update for us, giving us a few snippets of news to chew over until June.
- Kirby's 20th anniversary will be celebrated with the release of 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure in Japan, as well as a Kirby 20th Anniversary campaign.
- Pokémon: Black 2 & White 2 was shown again, alongside two new 3DS download games: Pokémon AR Searcher and Pokémon Zenkokuzukan Pro (Pokédex 3D Pro).
- 3DS software update for new folder system.
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 on Nintendo 3DS announced for August 2012.
- Some new information on Fire Emblem: Awakening, Animal Crossing 3DS, Culdcept, Calciobit and Mario Tennis Open.
A European Nintendo Direct will be shown later today. It is likely much of the presentation will include the same content as the Japanese version. To celebrate Nintendo Direct there are also new puzzles for StreetPass: Mii Plaza (Fire Emblem in Japan and Mario Tennis Open in the US and Europe), plus a new piece of European stationery in Swapnote.
A few Nintendo 3DS eShop Updates
22 Feb 2012
While I continue to rewrite the game pages across the site, as Nintendo continues to announce Nintendo 3DS games, I decided it was time to do a quick update to the Nintendo 3DS Download Software. A handful of new gamepages are up, including two with cameos:
- Freakyforms
- Pushmo (with cameos)
- SpeedThru: Potzol's Puzzle
- Sakura Samurai
- Swapnote
- Kiradeko Revolution (with cameos)
- Dillon's Rolling Western
GameTrailers Totaka's Song in Wii Sports Update
Following the claim that Totaka's Song was hidden in the tennis racket sound effects in Wii Sports, many clever people quickly debunked the theory using sound software to compare the two. I take my hat off to their work, and also to GameTrailers for really thinking outside of the box and introducing even more people to the long search for Totaka's Song.
Did GameTrailers Find Totaka's Song in Wii Sports?
18 Feb 2012
A video posted yesterday over at GameTrailers explains how to find Totaka's Song in Wii Sports. The answer is that the slight variation in Wii Tennis racket sound effects match up with the notes of Totaka's Song. They take these notes, space them out and play them alongside Totaka's Song. It's all very convincing.
But I won't be adding this little nugget to the site any time soon. Why?
First, slight variants in the pitch of the sound effects do not make them the same pitch as the notes in Totaka's Song. And as some NinDB Forum goers have pointed out, some don't quite fit.
Secondly, even if the notes were pitch perfect, they don't contain the rhythm of Totaka's Song. Even if you increase or decrease the tempo of a song, you still have longer and shorter gaps between notes.
If the pitch is wrong and the rhythm is wrong…Then it's not Totaka's Song. They mix in the rhythm during the video, but it still sounds a bit off. Sorry guys! Better luck next time!

Super Smash Bros. Cameo Guides and More
11 Feb 2012
I have prepared a veritable feast of updates for you today!
Super Smash Bros. Cameo Guides
I've been promising to restore and update these for years, but the Super Smash Bros. Cameo Guides finally return to NinDB, including the all-new Brawl cameo guide! The guides include trophy descriptions and errata, information on music and stickers and much more:
- Super Smash Bros. Cameo Guide
- Super Smash Bros. Melee Cameo Guide
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl Cameo Guide
Updated Series Lists & Series Navigation
The Nintendo Series section has been completely updated, and mini series lists can now be found on every gamepage on NinDB. This should make browsing NinDB a little easier, as should the new navigation bar on the right.
Game List & DSiWare Updates
03 January 2012
Happy New Year everybody! I am starting off this year with the first of several huge updates that are long overdue. Over the past few days I have been making changes to the system and game lists in the Hardware section. All of the main home and portable systems have been updated to the format being used on the 3DS page, with sortable release tables with thumbnails and a few fixes made here and there.
The reason I've been dragging my feet is thanks to DSiWare. Not only has the section been updated, but I have uploaded game pages for every Nintendo game on the download service. Next step, I have to add cameos to these pages...
NES Page Updates
4th September 2011
To celebrate the release of 10 NES games for the 3DS Ambassador Programme, I have updated the game pages for The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and Metroid. Each now includes information on characters, enemies, bosses and items. I will hopefully be adding and updating more games to this list shortly.
Update 2: Sure enough, I have also updated the gamepages for the remaining 5 action games released through the Ambassador Programme: Super Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, Donkey Kong Jr. and Wrecking Crew.
