WLKY Investigates: Jailhouse Informants

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -

On March 23, James Mallory met WLKY Investigative Reporter Duane Pohlman in front of the Hall of Justice in downtown Louisville.

The meeting happened a month after Mallory’s release from jail and before his arrest in connection with 15-year-old Gregory Holt’s slaying.

"Help me and I can help you," Mallory began, laying out a plea for money.

Mallory’s connected the money directly to Pohlman’s request for an interview.

"I'm not going to do an interview for nothing,” he said.

Pohlman made it clear that he was a journalist, covering the story. WLKY does not pay sources for their information.

Mallory persisted and added the money would be kept a secret.

"Nobody knows but me and you talking. If they ever ask me,” Mallory said.

Pohlman walked away from Mallory, with no interview, but a clearer picture of the man now infamously known on the streets as an informant.

Not the first time we met
