"Fifty Shades of Grey," E.L. James' S&M; erotica novel, has sat atop The New York Times' Best Sellers list for seven weeks straight. The trilogy, dubbed "mommy porn," has readers around the world salivating over the scintillating plotline about a handsome millionaire seducing a virginal 20-something and introduced her to a world of pleasurable pain

The first installment sold more than 2 million copies in April 2012 alone. It is no wonder that James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" secured a multi-million dollar movie deal, in the neighborhood of $5 million, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Casting for the movie has already caused a buzz, despite the fact that no solid offers have been made. Many young Hollywood heartthrobs are rumored to be in talks for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" leading role of dominant Christian Grey, like Chris Pine, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Max Irons and Armie Hammer.

The latest glove in the ring might just be the most exciting.

"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder told Ryan Seacrest during an interview on his KIIS-FM show on Monday that he would be interested in the part.

"I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing," Somerhalder said. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out."

Adding, "Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!"

Ian Somerhalder's popularity has skyrocketed with the success of his CW show, in which he stars with his on-screen and off-screen girlfriend, Nina Dobrev.

Somerhalder has also had roles in "Lost," "Smallville" and the 2000 series "Young Americans," as well as movies like "The Tournament" and "Cradlewood." The 33-year-old actor is also an active philanthropist involved in anti-drilling, animal rights and environmentalist efforts. Somerhalder has also supported the "It Gets Better Project" for LGBT youth.

Grey's counterpart is Anastasia Steele, a recent college graduate who falls for Grey's wiles and charms before entering into a world of S&M; fantasies. As for the role of Steele, some popular starlets' names have been thrown around.

Celebuzz recently compiled a slideshow of potential leading ladies to play Steele. This list included Elizabeth Olsen, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Emmy Rossum, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lawrence, Rooney Mara and Shailene Woodley.
