The Metal Gear Solid promo CD is not a full soundtrack, but rather a free cuts CD that was given out to people who preordered the game. That said, the producers of this CD picked some of the best tracks from the game to put on it. Although there are only 10 tracks, each one showcases a different mood from MGS.

"Discovery," with its slow brass movements, conveys perfectly the sorrow of war, whereas "Encounter" expresses the adrenaline-pumping action that takes place in the game when one is spotted by an enemy soldier. If I have any complaint about the music on this CD, it is that it is slow enough that I have found myself fast forwarding past the first minute of a track just to get to the good parts. This is a minor flaw though.

Some electronics stores may still have leftover copies of this CD in stock, and if they do they are free for the asking. Fans of the Metal Gear series, spy/war movies, or video game soundtracks are advised to start asking as soon as possible. Assess. Respond. Acquire.
