First New La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

Posted: April 16, 2012

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, the No. 2 cigar in the world as ranked by Cigar Aficionado magazine, has added its first new size since the launch of the brand in 2010.

The size is called Duque, a parejo measuring 5 1/4 inches by 56 ring gauge. It has a suggested retail price of $7.25 per cigar.

The Duque is among the fattest of Mi Amors. “It’s the thickest that’s box-pressed,” said Ashton vice president Sathya Levin. The Valentino, a cigar in the round, is the thickest in the line, at 58 ring.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor is the first from Ashton Distributors to have a Mexican wrapper. The wrapper for this brand is dark and flavorful, grown from Mexican seeds in the San Andrés Valley, and has Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos.

As with all La Aroma de Cuba cigars, it is rolled in Estelí, Nicaragua, by My Father Cigars, a large cigar factory that is owned and operated by the Garcia family. The La Aroma de Cuba Belicoso rated 95 points, classic on our 100 point scale, and is the current No. 2 cigar of the year.

The new cigar is shipping this week, and Levin said cigar shops should have it on sale next week.
