KUALA LUMPUR: It was a lucky Monday for taxi driver Ahmad Rusdi Mat Daud, who took home RM32,400 after he came up tops in Suria FM's Ketawa & Ceria contest here.

In the final round, Rusdi, 44, from Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras and 14 other contestants took turns to be in a giant glass cubicle with ringgit notes totalling RM250,000.

Each contestant was given 30 seconds to grab as much money as they could and the one with the biggest collection was announced the winner.

The father of two collected RM22,400 and was further rewarded with another RM10,000 by the station.

Ketawa & Ceria, which kicked off on March 19, was a month-long contest for Suria FM's listeners.

Listeners had to guess correctly five laugh tracks from different celebrities with clues given by the station's deejays.

The show climaxed on Monday with the finalists given the chance to grab the cash in the glass cubicle.

The second-place winner was Rostam Wahid, 37, from Petaling Jaya, who collected RM21,250 and was further rewarded with an Ogawa foot massager worth RM2,699 and RM100.

The third placing went to 22-year-old Norusapila Morudin from Sungai Petani, Kedah. The mother of two collected RM15,820 and was rewarded with a Coway Air Purifier worth RM1,000 and RM100 in cash.

“Seriously, I didn't expect to win. I came with an open mind without any high hopes because the whole thing was based on luck,” said Rusdi, a father of two.

“Being the 13th contestant of the day helped as I was able to see how the others were gathering the money.

“I learned a bit about being more effective in catching the money. But, honestly, I never thought that I would win,” he said.

It was the second time that he had taken part in a contest organised by the radio station.

In September last year, he was among the final 50 contestants in the Kuiz Kereta & Duit Raya Suria FM quiz show.

The winners received their prizes from Suria FM's deputy chief operating officer Yusry Abu Samah.

The station's popular deejays - Nabil, Halim Othman and Kenchana Devi - spiced up the prize presentation event.
