Jet Fuel

by Jeff

Image text: The 'controlled demoliton' theory was concocted by the government to distract us. '9/11 was an inside job' was an inside job!

This comic is a reference to the already debunked "9/11 Was An Inside Job" theory that the World Trade Center in New York City was blown up by a "controlled demolition".  The guy with the weird hair only on the back of his head (balding?) uses the typical argument and Cueball one ups the craziness and of course the balding guy eats it up.  The Chemtrails conspiracy theory is a completely different conspiracy theory which says that (exactly as Cueball does) the US Government puts chemicals and mind control agents in jets and airliners to subtlety have US citizens ingest the agents.

And the image text (despite the misspelling) is the naturally "double down" on a theory which says that the conspiracy theory itself was concocted by the government and was supposed to distract from the truth.

Anxiety

by Jeff

Image text: Don't need any thanks.  I have a backscattering fetish.

This comic is of a security line in an airport, which I got all too familiar with during my recent trip.  However, this is not the airport security line you are traditionally familiar with because everyone is waiting for one of the new Backscatter x-ray machines (which is what it says in tiny print on the scanner in the comic).  These machines do more than merely beep when enough of a metal object pass through them.  They take "pictures" of the person inside them to see if they have any prohibited material on their person.

That is all well and good, however the x-ray machines ignore clothes and produce an outline of the person's nude body for the security personnel to analyze.  Because this outline bares a lot for the picture, some men would find it beneficial to take some Viagra to increase the bulk of the area around their crotchal regions.  I'm quite sure "crotchal" is not a word, but I like to use it anyway.  If you are not sure what I mean, you either haven't seen a single commercial for Viagra, Cialis or any variant drugs.  If you still do not understand, come back when you are older.

The image text is what the last person in line says to the Black Hat character when he sees the Viagra for sale sign.  He does not need the Viagra to achieve tumescence to impress the security personnel and increase his own self confidence because he is aroused by the backscattering itself.

Backscattering is the the reflection of waves, particles or signals back to where they came from.

The security person in this comic is thinking "Oh God".  There is several possible reasons for this. 1 - He could be seeing the image in the screen of the Viagra-enhanced outline of the man in the scanner.  2 - He could have noticed the Black Hat selling Viagra, check the long line of men and then back at the image and think about how long his 8 hour shift seems now.

However, for comedic effect, the comic is different than in reality because in actual airports, the person analyzing the image is in a completely separate room and cannot see the actual people going through the line.  The people attending to the line only look at an LCD screen and wait for the technicians in the other room to declare the person clean.

All in all, it is a very disarming situation as they make you hold your hands over or behind your head for the scan.

Floor

by Jeff

Image text: We once got grounded when we convinced the FAA to block flights through our county because of ash clouds.

The image text is a reference to the recent explosion of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland which created such a large ash cloud with the wind blowing in such a specific direction that it canceled flights throughout Europe for several days.

This comic is a reference to the child's game in which you pretend the floor is lava and you try to move about the room without touching the floor.  In the comic, one character has just pressed a dynamite plunger, the next is using the garden hose to cool the "lava" and the third is radioing for a helicopter.

This is obviously taken to the extreme.  When I played this game, I only jumped from couch to chair to couch before "burning up" in the lava.  Anyone else have a similar/different experience?

UPDATE: Thanks to commenter DT for noticing that these are all actions performed in the movie Volcano by the character played by Tommy Lee Jones.  Thanks DT!

Seat Selection

by Jeff

Image text: Don't click on the wing.

This comic is a take on the airport kiosks when you check in that allow you to change your seat. This comic takes it to the extreme and sees what would happen if you are allowed to select the captain's seat.

Semicontrolled Demolition

by Jeff

Image text: I believe the truth always lies halfway between the most extreme claims.

This comic is taking the idea of a compromise to its literal extreme.

9/11 Truthers are people that consider the conspiracy theories around the September 11th 2001 terrorist attack and they usually believe that the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City was an inside job by the government.

So, this comic is a compromise between what the truthers believe and public knowledge of September 11th and since the comic takes the compromise to its extreme, in which both things happen.

Bag Check

by Jeff

Image text: A laptop battery contains roughly the stored energy of a hand grenade, and if shorted it ... hey!  You can't arrest me if I prove your rules inconsistent!

It's never a good idea to mention what possibly dangerous stuff you have in your bag at the airport.  Probably better off just buying a new water after the check point.  No matter the inconsitency of the rules.  And the joke in the image text is that you can very easily be arrested on inconsistent rules.
