Rovio warns gamers away from fake Angry Birds Space

Hackers design Android malware version.

Angry Birds Space launched less than a month ago and the game has already been imitated by hackers that have created malware-riddled versions of the game, according to SophosLabs.

The virus-coated versions can be found within unofficial Android app stores, which led Rovio to say: "Don't be fooled by fakes. As you get ready to pop pigs in zero gravity, watch out for fake versions of Angry Birds Space, and make sure to download safe by getting the official game from Rovio."

The Trojan horse is the most common form of malware, which invades Android smartphones to install code and retrieve data.

The Angry Birds Space attack follows our report that Android malware rose by over 3300 per cent in 2011.
