Get sky-high views of Tokyo Sky Tree

The Asakusa View Hotel in Tokyo is offering a discount plan for stays in its rooms with views of the Tokyo Sky Tree, until Oct. 31.

In celebration of the 634-meter tower under construction in nearby Sumida Ward, the hotel will offer its deluxe rooms at standard room prices, starting from ¥6,100 per person, including tax and a service charge. Guests can have outstanding views of the Tokyo Sky Tree from rooms on the 10th floor and higher before the building officially opens next May.

Tokyo Sky Tree-themed products are also available in the hotel's restaurants. For example, the first-floor Lounge Mimosa is offering a 35-cm-high Sky Tree Parfait, while the 27th-floor French restaurant Makie is serving a cocktail called Tenku (which means sky in Japanese). The price for each is ¥1,260, which includes tax, but a 10 percent service charge will be added to the bill.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo reopens lounge

The Grand Hyatt Tokyo has reopened its executive Grand Club Lounge after an extensive renewal.

Located on the 10th floor of the hotel in the Roppongi Hills complex, the new look incorporates a unique contemporary Japanese design and new facilities with additional space.

The hotel, which marks its eighth anniversary this year, has expanded the lounge to more than twice the original size, including the construction of an outdoor terrace with a Japanese garden overlooking the city. According to the hotel, this Grand Club Lounge is the only executive lounge in a Tokyo hotel that incorporates such an outdoor space.

Guests staying in Grand Club rooms, Grand Deluxe corner rooms and all suites are allowed to access the lounge.

The lounge offers check-in and checkout services, a personalized concierge, continental breakfast, evening cocktails, canapes and refreshments. Both Western and Japanese dishes are served using seasonal ingredients. Laptop computers and iPads are available for use as well. Throughout the lounge, including the outdoor terrace, Wi-Fi connections are available.

Ramada Osaka's package for runners

Following the recent rise in popularity of city marathons, the Ramada Osaka is offering a special accommodation package for runners.

As the Tokyo Marathon thrives every year with more than 200,000 applicants for the race, the inaugural Osaka Marathon for men and women will be run this year and the Kyoto Marathon is scheduled to be held next year.

To provide support to the increasing number of runners, the hotel's special accommodation package includes features such as an anti-inflammatory analgesic spray, sunscreen, a sports drink and the hotel's original running map.

The package is available from ¥6,000 per person, including tax and a service charge.
