Maria Finoshina is a news correspondent for RT.
Since joining the correspondents’ team Maria has traveled all across the vast territories of Russia, from the island of Sakhalin in the Far East to the Baltic coast, from Chechnya to the Taimyr peninsula in Siberia.
Her work knows neither natural nor geographical boundaries. She has reported from the freezing temperatures of Chukotka and the melting heat of Southern Sudan, producing some of her most memorable stories to date.
Maria’s reports speak straight to the viewer, bringing a mixture of the everyday and the extraordinary, covering natural disasters and accidents alongside human interest stories on themes ranging from maternity leave to drug addiction.
Maria has shaken hands with astronauts minutes before lift-off from the Baikonur cosmodrome, she has taken part in military training in Abkhazia and, sat in on talks with high-ranking Russian officials in Moscow. She stood with local negotiators on a hill in Russia’s Penza region the day the doomsday cult members barricaded themselves underground to await the apocalypse.
Maria’ s reporting style is brisk, her approach is fresh and original. Her reports give the viewer direct access to the places she visits and people she meets.
Her messages are straightforward yet thought-provoking, and she’s a favorite among RT presenters for her ease and natural animation of her live broadcasts.
She speaks fluent English and French along with her native Russian.
