A single 24/7 emergency telephone number is being rolled out across Russia – «112». Coverage for the entire country is planned to be completed by 2012.
The service is expected to be provided in Russian and English, with an operator redirecting you to a specific department that will deal with your enquiry. Calls to 112 will be free of charge from both landlines and mobile phones, and it’s already in use by most mobile phone operators.
