This Siberian city is known for its hydroelectric plant, which was the world’s biggest power producer when it was built in the 1960s. Bratsk was founded near the old Bratskoye village, flooded during the construction of a dam. The reservoir which formed as a result of this work is among the largest on the planet and is often referred to as “the Bratsk Sea”.
